Q: I hate to sound ungrateful to Mr. or Mrs. Google, as I have done very well with my purchase of their GOOGL (the Class A) shares about 6 years ago. HOWEVER, I paid a premium of a few dollars to acquire the voting shares (GOOGL) instead of the non-voting GOOG. Now, perversely, the GOOGL are trading over $100 LESS THAN the GOOG - even though they represent the same economic interest PLUS have voting rights (which are often worth 'something' or 'a fair bit' but never, to my knowledge, NEGATIVE value). This discount is a 20% hit on my original investment. Can you explain this bizarre situation? Would you expect this anomaly to right itself at some point? And if you have an address for me to complain to Mrs. Google, please let me know!

Q: Do you have any concerns about the antitrust chatter and the new FTC appointment? Specifically for google Facebook Amazon and Apple. Breaking up Big Tech seems unlikely and would potentially unlock more value by selling off pieces of the companies (how much would Instagram be worth or AWS or YouTube)… but can any laws get passed that will really change the trajectory of these businesses the runway ahead of them still seems to be massive.

They all have so much cash and so much information about their customers and surely have the ability to pivot and skirt the new “rules”. I still view them as safe as any ETF out there with much better growth potential.

Q: Hello Peter, with Alphabet's huge cash hoard and pressure on the company to control expenses, do you expect they might institute a dividend soon? Should they? Would the market reward that decision with a price increase, do you think?
Also, despite paying a premium of several extra dollars when I bought GOOGL (not GOOG) several years ago, I'm chagrined to see that my GOOGL shares now trade at several dollars less. Given that the GOOGL shares have voting rights that the GOOGs don't, I'm a bit puzzled. Do you think the old premium will return at some point?

Q: The market seems to be shifting to value stocks. I am overweight many tech stocks. Should I sell some of the tech stocks and buy value stocks?

Q: Hello
I have an 18% gain in BEP.UN in a non registered account. I received the spin out shares in BEPC. Is there any tax advantage in selling the BEP.UN shares and buying the equivalent BEPC shares? Meaning, despite the cap tax gain hit, will the future taxation in BEPC be more advantageous over BEP.UN?

Also I recently bought GOOG C shares maybe by mistake. Is there any advantage to sell them and buy the A shares instead?

Thanks

Q: I have both GOOG and GOOGL . I used to see the voting stock GOOGL trade above the non-voting GOOG. Lately however prices have reversed . This morning for example the voting shares are some $7 BELOW the non-voting class. This strikes one as odd, notwithstanding that votes have little meaning in companies where founders have controlling blocks. Has something changed in the definitions of the Classes? I did not see anything in the financial journals.

Q: What is the long term risk of the massive antitrust investigation by the US states on GOOG. I know this game has been played several times and had no significanct effect on tech companies, but this time seems different as all US states are involved. I have only 2% position but wondering if I should add on pull back.

Q: These are the US holdings in my RSP. All have done well except for SYK down about 8% with a limited outlook for the rest of 2020 based on the Covid pandemic. Regardless of sector weighting, what are your favorite 2 or 3 US equities for growth over the next 5 years? I'm okay with a moderate risk.
Thanks in advance,
Greg.

Q: Hi, I'm looking to add to the fintech world. I'm sure online purchases and contact-less (cash less) payments only continue to increase.

What is your favorite growth stock in this category (1) overall, and (2) one that is well positioned to succeed in both the physical space (contact less at stores) and online (web payments).

Q: I have some U.S. cash to invest. I feel the U.S. market is going a little bit lower over the next few weeks and this will provide a great opportunity to capitalize on. Which of the above would you consider to have the best outlook ( or would you suggest buying a little bit of all four )??

Q: I currently own IHI and GOOGL (only about $8000 in each} and with the recent severe downturn am looking at adding additional funds ($16000) to my portfolio. Am considering MFST and/or ESLT or would you recommend just adding to my existing holdings. These funds are in an non-registered account.
