Q: With all these lawsuits, tariffs and inquisitions going on these companies due to their overall dominance / killing competition etc..How much is it affecting their ability to conduct business.. or the costs are so small, it is just a cost of doing business for these companies? Is it really impacting their revenues, profits etc..I can see it affects their ability to buy new businesses.. Thanks. Regards, Shyam

Q: I would like to have a little fun with this question. Imagine a boxing match between Canadian companies and American companies...each round is represented by a sector so lets say it is a fight gone bad and there are extra rounds covering 11 sectors. Please pick a favourite Canadian Contender and a strong American contender for each round and who wins the round. Example Round 10 Technology Red corner Constellation Software vs Blue corner Microsoft. Won by Microsoft or Constellation Software. The rules...If you wish to give reasons why the round went one way or another, it's your choice. A good clean fight use the criteria of your investment strategies. The point...I am curious if the Canadian Companies stack up and in what areas I should be looking at South of the border. Thank you

Q: Hello
I have an 18% gain in BEP.UN in a non registered account. I received the spin out shares in BEPC. Is there any tax advantage in selling the BEP.UN shares and buying the equivalent BEPC shares? Meaning, despite the cap tax gain hit, will the future taxation in BEPC be more advantageous over BEP.UN?

Also I recently bought GOOG C shares maybe by mistake. Is there any advantage to sell them and buy the A shares instead?

Thanks
2 deductions if you see fit.

Q: I have essentially equal holdings in these mega caps and other US and Canadian techs listed. For a new additional tech investment, any thoughts on the best addition? Would you recommend more to an index?
I'm trying not too add too many new names.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks,

Q: I am looking to add to my Tech Sector - I currently have AAPL, MSFT, CSCO ( in RRSP ) and OTEX - I am thinking about buying some GOOG ( in our TFSA accounts ) to complement the above - would that be something you would do OR would you add to the existing positions. Appreciate you comment.
Thanks

Q: Hello 5i team,
Which one do you prefer GOOG or AMZN for a long term hold (no worries about day to day variations)? And why? Does your conviction vary based on investment horizon or the results of the November election?
Thank you for your collaboration, Eric

Q: Morning team,

I've recently taken some profits and have some cash to deploy for long term holds. And I would be interested to know what your top investment "themes" would be for the next 5+ years are? For instance, ideas that come to mind for me are Cloud computing, "green" investment, and cyber security. Are there others that you find more intriguing? And which companies/ETFs would you recommend as investments?

Thank you again for you insights!

Q: Good afternoon,

The technology portion of my portfolio has grown too large (about 37%) and I知 trying to figure out how to get it back to about 25%? My issue is that I知 interested in too many tech options (I.e., the ones that I own plus others I壇 like to buy). I知 looking for suggestions on which I should sell, add to or replace by buying a better option. Some were initiated with half positions that went down and some full positions grew so the proportions all over the place. I have a long time horizon and many are held in a registered account (except SHOP and NVDA). I own: KXS (3.5%), CSU (3.8%), SHOP (2.7%), PHO (<1%), ZS (3.3%), TEAM (1%), NVDA (6.1%), AAPL (11%), MSFT (4.6%) and I知 interested in buying REAL, DOCU and GOOG. I壇 like to own what are viewed as solid tech companies for future innovation and growth and I知 willing to add, remove or replace any of these companies.

I also need to add materials and REITs to my portfolio since I currently have no holdings in these. I値l use my tech trimmings to add to these sectors. Suggestions of top companies for these two sectors would also be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for all the great work and suggestions you provide,
Lisa

Q: I have both GOOG and GOOGL . I used to see the voting stock GOOGL trade above the non-voting GOOG. Lately however prices have reversed . This morning for example the voting shares are some $7 BELOW the non-voting class. This strikes one as odd, notwithstanding that votes have little meaning in companies where founders have controlling blocks. Has something changed in the definitions of the Classes? I did not see anything in the financial journals.

Q: Recent article in the Van.Sun states that big tech could bail out long-suffering value investor citing 2 examples. 1)Google invested US$450m in ADT resulting in a more than 60% increase for ADT. 2)Amazon is rumored to be in talks with Simon Property leading to a 10% rise for the latter. On Aug 28 it was reported that MSFT & WMT are jointly bidding for the US assets of Tit Tok. And a source says that it will have positive impact on PINS. Please indentify potential candidates(value stocks, smaller tech like Pins etc) for big tech with short comments.Txs for u usual great services & views

Q: Hello,
I read somewhere that AAPL took 42 years to reach a 1 trillion market cap and only took 2 years to reach 2 trillion! Sounds like compounding at work. How common is it for mature companies like AAPL to grow at this rate? Which of the other FAANGM companies would you expect some thing like this? Thanks.

Regards,

Shyam
