Q: Hello, with the current inflation scene, economy and interest rates, expectations of a pause by Federal Reserve and possibility of a soft landing, what sectors will be your favorites to invest/overweight today with a 5-10 years horizon ? And, in these sectors, what will be your best 3 picks, based on current valuation and future growth, in order, with suggested price levels to buy/add ?

Q: I currently have a portfolio with these six holdings. What would be your current top 5-10 Cdn and/or US buys to diversify the portfolio and put a large cash balance to work for a 5-10 year time horizon with total return as the primary objective

Q: Further to my earlier question regarding covered calls, can you please suggest some higher volatility US names that would be suitable. Your 2015 CMS article advises the use of companies with no debt and excess cash that are more volatile than the market. I would imagine this points mostly to mega cap tech names, but some diversity in the list would be appreciated. Thank-you.

Q: I know that 5i has huge respect for a company like CSU. What would be an equivalent stock in the US markets?

Q: With no tax implications; if you had a significant short term profit in META would YOU be inclined to take profit and move to another name(s)?
If so what would be your 2 or 3 stocks highest conviction names for a 1 to 3 year hold and why?

Q: I hold UNITY and APPS , now less than 1% and at a substantial loss as part of a US $ registered account tilted to growth and, intentionally, heavy in tech. In addition to the above two, it has the following holdings, with % shown of TOTAL (U.S. & Cdn) portfolio, followed by % of profit/loss, Our Canadian portfolio is balanced and much larger.

META .75% (+21%) , TEAM 1.9% (0%), CRWD 2.7% (-20%),
QCOM 3.7% (+45%), MSFT 3.8%(+116%), GOOG 4.5%(+6%), and NVDA 8.8% (+200%).

I am looking at selling U and APPS and perhaps TEAM (?) , increasing META to about 1.5 and looking for something new. Maybe SMCI - but after the parabolic increase in the last month maybe that needs to be on a pullback. Anything about this that you would do differently., including alternatives to SMCI ?

Q: I compared the 6 month stock price performance of the following as Nasdaq stocks and as CDR's:: AAPL, AMZN, GOOG, META, & NVDA
All stocks showed better returns on the Nasdaq.
than as CDR's probably due to currency fluctuation but I am puzzled by the huge discrepancy in the gains between the 2 exchanges. eg. AAPL & NVDA show a 25% higher gain - AMZN 12.4% - GOOG 16% - META 1.7%
Can you explain?

Q: Good morning. I need to add one Non-Canadaian growth stock to my unregistered business portfolio. Can you please give me a a couple of ideas but not MSFT, AMZN or NVDA unless you feel they could be added to at this stage. Two or three ideas would be great. Thanks again.

Q: Took advantage of the 27% increase in NVDA today to reduce my holding to 5% and free up some cash. Looking for advice on how best to redeploy these funds. I already hold MSFT, GOOG and AMZN. I've been looking at AAPL, but am concerned about the geopolitics surrounding the company's manufacturing operations in China. Does this add a significant layer of uncertainty to investing in this company? Including AAPL, please provide a total of three names - in ranked order (best first) - where I could invest funds today. Q: Most of the quarterly results are now out and there have been some >10% moves up or down. Some were justified and others were overreactions or possibly some profit taking. Based on that, what would be your 5 top buys for each of Canadian and US markets looking out 2-3 years?

Q: Hi 5i team,

I’m thinking of selling a few stocks at a loss to balance out capital gains (I trimmed NVDA since my stock position got too high). I can cover an equivalent loss by selling two (or a combination of all 3) of the following stocks: DIS, TTD and CRWD. I bought all 3 at a much higher price. CRWD and TTD have had a nice bounce and I’m thinking that the near term environment of debt ceiling and sell in May could be a good time to take losses. I’m wondering if you have other items I should consider related to selling now versus later this year? If later, what would be a good time to consider?

I have other similar tech stocks such as GOOG and ZS and I’m wondering if I should consider another proxy for any or not bother? And I’m also wondering about re-buying at a reasonable entry point after 30 days for any of the 3 or simply move on?

I’d appreciate any insights you could provide.

Q: I have US exposure through a company pension that tracks the S&P. It represents about 20% of my overall holdings. I have recently come into enough US cash to add two or three new individual holdings, or perhaps buy an ETF or two that would complement the S&P tracking pension. I would welcome your thoughts and suggestions for individual stocks or ETFs that would be suitable additions.
