Q: Hello Peter and team, I'd like to purchase some high quality US companies whose share prices have been unduly hit by the COVID correction. However, I want to do this in a conservative way - with larger, stable companies with low debt and strong balance sheets; assured 'survivors'. Can you please suggest 5 good US candidates in the 'survive and recover' blue chip camp, and a dividend of at least 2.5 percent. Thanks!

Q: Hey 5i,

Incredible stuff here. Thank you.
Looking for some confirmation.
With relative balance between growth and dividend stocks.
US listed inside an RRSP. Longterm holding. Looking to buy slowly on this wild ride or if and when it plummets.
Could you recommend a starter bundle 8-10 stocks.

Thanks again!

Q: Looking to add a US healthcare stock. I currently have PFE ( 6% weighing ) and was looking to add GILD. I'm concerned that there might be some overlap between PFE and GILD - if so, can you recommend and rank some others that I can look at ? Appreciate your comments.
Thanks

Q: A cure is a non-technical term so we need to be careful. Not to beat a dead horse (too much anyways)...Gilead is not offering a "cure" to Covid-19. Their drug was used as a treatment on USA patient 1 in Washington State, a young man who the doctors feared was dying from Covid-19. After receiving the injection he recovered almost immediately and was discharged from the hospital a few days later. Gilead's drug was entered into FDA trials and was shown to be effective for 30% of the people. While this percentage seems small the drug was considered so effective all the people on the placebo were put on the drug. Society is looking for a vaccine which will prevent people from getting Covid-19. This will likely prove more of a challenge to the health industry. Vaccines sometimes offer long term immunity but sometimes the immunity dies out - that is why we need Tetanus booster shots every 10 years or so. Dr. Fauci is on record as feeling a vaccine is "doable" by January 2021.
Publish if you feel this is useful.

Q: I have held IVE for many years and to sell I would have capital gains taxes to consider though not what they would have been a couple of months ago. Are there 3 - 5 dividend stocks that you think are solid bets to out perform the index coming out of the downturn over the medium term? (2-3 years)
Thanks Hugh

Q: I just tried Portfolio Analytics and have concluded my portfolio needs some work. I need to increase US and international exposure and I need more weighting in Communication Services, Consumer Defense, Healthcare and Technology. Please recommend US/International stocks for me to consider in these categories for a five year hold. Thank you.

Q: Hi Peter and Staff

As luck would have it after being under water for two years on GILD I dumped it at $63.

It’s gone straight since then mostly because of a possible covid vaccine . I note you like it and while I obviously hope they or someone has a vaccine soon , I wonder about your thoughts for it going forward if they do not come up with a vaccine for covid .

Thanks for all you do

Q: Am needing to get more health exposure into my portfolio. So the question is with say 20 000 to invest, do you put it all into ZLV ETF or is there more growth potential by buying two or three quality stocks like JNJ, PFE and GILD.

Q: I have US cash to deploy and want to do so gradually in stages. I am already well invested in US Tech and I also have decent positions in COST and AMZN. Could you recommend some other US companies - those that have been unfairly punished by the virus that could be good long term investments. Also looking for some international exposure.
Thank you,
PD

Q: Hi folks,

Which Cdn and US companies would you consider buying now in relation to their assistance (equipment, internet services, food services, etc...) or solution (vaccines, drugs, etc...) or potential in view of the Covid-19 crisis and why ? Take credits as you see fit.

Please keep yourselves safe,

Q: Hello,
I am currently waiting out this deep downturn in the market. At some point the market will start recovering. I have followed your recommendations in the Portfolio Tracking and Analysis tool.

If you had $500,000 sitting in cash which you want to deploy once the market turns around, which sectors would you look towards investing in for the eventual upward trend? Would you be able to provide your favourite stocks /ETFS which you would use to cover the sectors you think will be first to recover?

Thanks for all your help.

Q: I get most of my income from dividends. Please name 4 sectors where dividends might be relatively Less likely to be suspended and 5 companies that will do best with the criteria mentioned. I understand that at this time it is hard to project but I ask for relative possibilities with the current situation that may change.
thanks

Q: Hi, my respected 5i team
I'm looking for some US stocks to buy in order to take advantage of the current market dip. Could you please recommend 4 or 5 solid names that worth buying now in the order of the most attractive to the least if possible? My time zone is about 3 to 5 years. Could you also comment the reasons of recommending?

By the way, I bought GOOG and NVDA last year upon your suggestion, only half position. Do you think it is a good idea to add more now?

Thanks in advance!

Q: Hi Peter and Ryan,
I am looking to take advantage from the current market dip and add the the above securities and ETF to my RRSP Portfolio. My time frame is 5 to 10 years. with adding the above I will be having all the 5i balanced portfolio stocks included. In addition I am adding some ETF and other stock that I think it can help my portfolio. Appreciate you advise of which stock look good at this time to buy (please rank). Is there any of the list I should avoid. Do you have other suggestions for good quality stocks and ETF (in the US and Canada) that have a good growth potential.
Thanks,

Q: Can you recommend 3 or 4 reasonably priced stocks that have a decent yield and might benefit from an almost zero interest rate environment. Long-term hold.
