Q: Hello,

I’ve always wondered why certain companies let their share price run into the thousands and rarely if ever split their shares. For a small retail investor like myself paying 2000- $3000 USD for an Amazon or Alphabet is simply not possible. I’ve always suspected it may be a philosophy of management and or founders who all still have significant influence in the mentioned companies.

Q: Hello Peter, I like your article on the National Post about the five areas to invest in for 2022. I have a few questions: for the small cap space, would Aritzia , ATS Automation and Topicus fit the category? In the large cap space, would AMZN be a good stock (instead of AAPL) as it has not done much in 2021? what do you think of the renewable energy space as it did not do well in 2021 (i.e BEP, etc). Lastly is the definition of small caps in relation to market caps less than $1 billion or ? Thanks very much. Happy new year

Q: I hold the above positions in a TFSA in the respective % amounts: 5.2, 5.5, 4.1, 1.93. I am considering selling GIB.A and AMZN and acquiring either TOI or perhaps for a little more torque LSPD. Which of the 2 would you suggest or any other proxies?

Q: Hi guys,

Here are my u.s. holdings and percentage; cost 5.5%, nvda 5%, msft 4.5%, J 3.5%, amzn 3%, crwd 2.75%, abbv 2%, U 1.5%, upst 1.5%, veev 1.5% plus 2 etf's, arkk 3%, spy 3.5%
(Also i2i fund 1.5%)
Are there any red flags here or changes that you would recommend for a growth/balance portfolio? The rest of my portfolio is a cross between your (5i's) balance and growth funds.
Happy new year and stay safe,
Jim

Q: Hi guys,

I have been a holder of AAPL for years with some excellent returns. Increasingly however I wonder whether this is a sustainable growth pace for the world’s richest company, and whether they are able to hold their multiple. The phones are expensive and their watch, AirPods and other accessories are successful, but again can they sustain replacement of these expensive products and actually grow their markets for such a huge company.
Their recent rally has been shocking to me, as the only recent news provided was of supply disruptions and an insider statement to suppliers that demand for the 13 is less than expected.

Do you see AAPL as worthy of holding for years to come with its now elevated multiples or is this possibly a good time to jump to another peer that has more left in the tank, like MSFT or AMZN?

Thanks as always.

Q: My portfolio analysis suggests I am underweight in Basic Materials, Consumer Cyclicals, Utilities and Healthcare. I have USD to invest as I am also underweight in the US. Could you give me your 2 best suggestions for overall return (not high-risk) in each of these sectors individually as well as a group. I would also like to know if there are Canadian companies more attractive than your US suggestions in the same sector. Thank you for your help over the years

Q: Hi Team,
My stock portfolio has dropped a gut wrenching 12% just this week alone, and 27% since august. All while the index's are near highs. I am aware most my stock holdings are aggressive tech names, but I am confident they are all best in breed names. I hold many of 5i US tech name favorites as well as some cnd. Its's a bloodbath like I haven't seen since the initial sell off when covid hit. At that time, I remember 5i came out with a very good "near bottom" report advising subscribers the end may be "near". As I recall it was very close! Thank you for that! What I am asking now is...will you issue such a report when the time comes as to when to potentially add to high growth tech names that have been crushed on no merritt of their own? Or can you say now if that time is near? And what stocks, either US or Cnd would you be adding to for 5yr plus holds that have the potential to make an exceptional recovery? I know this is a crystal ball question but your track record is good in my eyes! Thanks for your service. Look forward to some "calming" advice.

Q: Looking to buy one or both of these companies in light of recent weakness, this would either be for a taxable account or an RRSP (have some room in both for a new position). Would you hold off for now? Which would you buy first and what would you consider an attractive price? Thank you.

Q: Fire sale - V - 13 month low; MA just as bad; along with the rest of these. Do you think the people selling them have knowledge that we do not have and that is why they are selling these stocks. What is your take on what is happening? Thanks

Q: Poor Visa! What are your thoughts? Will other big companies or Amazon North America etc start rejecting visa too? I have been eyeing Visa and Mastercard for a while now. Is this a good time to buy Visa or wait and see if it falls through $190/200? Buy visa or mastercard, or both, or neither?

Q: Hi Team, We hold CNR and BIP.UN in our TFSA accounts and would like to free up space for other holdings from our non-registered account. We hold AMZN, BAM'A, CSU, GOOG, and QCOM in a non-registered account. If we switch out CNR and BIP.UN before Dec. 31 will we be able to transfer in some of the non-registered holdings in 2022? If so, in which order would you rank the non-registered holdings to take advantage of the TFSA account?
Would it be better to replace BIP.UN with BIPC in the non-registered account?
Thanks

Q: Although it is a US equity, it is mentioned here often enough that perhaps you will answer a question about it. APPS has received many favourable comments from 5I; can you explain why you like it? It recently has a noticeable reduction in share price.....is this a buying opportunity or a change in momentum? In a growth oriented TFSA, I am thinking of trimming some NVDA, CRWD, and AMZN to create some funds to purchase a small position in APPS. Those 3 have grown but are not (yet) too high of a weight , this would be to try to boost results. Is it a move you would make, or would you just stay the course? Many thanks for your excellent service.

Q: I need to raise some cash so need to sell one or two stocks in my TFSA which is growth focussed. I am probably a little heavy on tech. Could you rank the order of stocks that you would sell. I am tempted to sell TTD after its recent gain but I am not sure this is the best option. Could you offer short a short comment regarding the top two on the list?
