Q: I’ve trimmed some winners and stocks that have run up in the reverb rally and I’ve had some good energy names. Can you suggest any laggards that might come up on your screens? They could be growth , cyclical or value, etc but just some names that have upside but might play catch up.

Q: I have significant losses in these companies. I don't need tax losses.

Should I average down on these companies or is there any of these companies that I should sell and move on?

Q: Hi 5i,
I need to access some cash by selling some TFSA holdings and hope you can give me advice as to the best way to go about that.
I'm nicely up on WCP and TVE, and with dividends accounted for close to break even on DBM. CTS, CURA, QST and WELL are down a lot, and GXE is down some but not too bad.
Selling 1/4 of the WCP or 1/2 of the TVE or DBM would cover my cash requirement, whereas I'd have to offload pretty much all of any one of the others at their presently reduced values to get where i need to be.
If I didn't need the cash I wouldn't sell anything at present, in the expectation that WCP and TVE will continue to do well, that DBM will at least hold steady, probably rise relatively soon and keep paying dividends, and that the others will find their way out of the woods in due course. But unfortunately I don't have that luxury.
Given the above, could you advise what i might best hold on to, and what might be best to sell in fairly short order?
Thanks!
Peter

Q: Considering a tax loss sale of mmx, ecn and well. Looking for suggestions of proxies. Would bto work for mmx? For other two would waiting 30 days work any better than a proxy?

Q: I have chosen WELL as a positive example but I am puzzled by the apparent lack of performance for the sector. We have a health care problem; scads of people do not have a family doctor. I know the difficulty involves more than the services WELL can provide BUT I would have thought services such as those provided by companies like WELL would have been in demand, would have been able to provide some relief, their valuations would have prospered even during their development, and investors would have seen some benefits. Yet the sector valuations flounder. What am I missing?

Q: Hi,
Please take as many credits as you feel fit. Our portfolio is a hot mess. We’ve basically been ignoring this downturn for the past 6 months knowing we are are in for the long term. Retirement is 7-10 years out. The above holdings have fallen below a 1% weight in our portfolio. We have limited cash to deploy. Which of these would you add to? In what order? Any you would not add to and just hope that time allows for recovery? Any if these you would sell? For the ones that could be added too. Would you just buy now or put some stink bids in given the crazy volatility in markets? Any additional input is welcome.
Thanks so much,
Kerri

Q: Generally which size companies provide the best returns after a decline we have experienced,?
All of the above 3 companies ( small, mid, large cap ) are well run with good financials and should be able to ride this out. Is the small cap story played out with investors staying away for a protracted period ? Are mid caps are of the right size to be seen as safer, more liquid,? Are large caps just too large to grow ?
My question is not on these specific 3 companies but is more general in nature as to where to look for best rebound returns. Thanks
Derek

Q: In your response to Guy R. (Oct 22) about Tax Selling, you indicated the likelihood of a considerable sell-off still to come for this year's 'worst performing' stocks. Yikes !! Taxable account or not, wouldn't it be advantageous to sell the “worst” now, then repurchase in early December those stocks that you wish to own for the future? Otherwise, by holding, you are faced not only with recouping the loss already established, but on top of that, the additional loss anticipated in the coming 5 weeks.
My “worst performing” list includes: Canadian stocks: ANRG, AT, CAE, EGLX, LSPD, MG, PRN, SHOP, WELL. US stocks: APPS, U.
1) Are there any of these that you would suggest NOT selling ?
2) Of those to be sold, are there any that you would suggest NOT repurchasing in December ?
3) You mentioned some investors will want to buy “less worse” performing stocks so as not to miss out on a possible short term rally. Do you support this approach in the current situation, rather than just holding the cash proceeds temporarily ? If so, are there a handful of “less worse” performing stocks, that you would suggest and, would they be temporary or more long term replacements ?
Use whatever question credits appropriate. Thank you , as always.

Q: In my holding company trading account with a year-end of Oct 31, I plan to sell these losers in the next few days to offset earlier capital gains. I expect that these companies may drop even further during the tax loss selling season. Do you see any potential for any of these companies that might lead me to buy back the shares after 30 days?

Q: What's up with Well Health? Great results, analyst consensus of $9 - but stock stinks at $3.

Is Li Ka Shing still a shareholder? The last Cantech article seems unclear by saying "lead by..."; like "lead in spirit, but not dollars"? WELL is a sponsor of Cantech and Wadell owns shares personally, so the language and format of that article seem questionable. I kinda get the impression Li has liquidated his position but the company is tiptoeing around disclosing that. A couple sources say Li has "exited" but you may have clearer info from company IR.

I know Hamed Shabazi (ceo of WELL) is close friends with Sharzad Rafati, (ceo of BBTV) and that company has been an utter disaster. Hamed also sits on the board. Do you see any contagion spilling over? Similar problems, tricks or worse?

Something doesn't add up with the share performance of WELL based on their results, supposed high profile backers and analyst target consensus. Can they handle their debt? Have they overextended? Was that short report correct in their analysis of the CRH takeover? I mean that was a trash article; poorly researched and appears to be written by a confused teenager.

I like Hamed and followed him all the way back from the TIO days. I want to be sure that I am not picking up a scent similar to the fraudulent Canadian roll-up "darling" Patient Home Monitoring - I still have nightmares from that burn. The analysts all loved that one too. Well, thanks for your insight!

Q: With free cash flow and/or sufficient ready liquid cash on hand and a healthy prospective new business list in the hopper, in which order would you liquidate. Obviously the weakest one being the 1st to go.

Q: Hi Team,
I was looking for a list of some beat down, quality names in this carnage with robust potential, to hold my breath and buy some more shares for the long term. Names that have the potential to recover and continue climbing higher, once the market normalizes (whenever that may be). 4 names I was thinking of were either NVDA, SHOP, WELL or TOI. Which of these would be your top choice for the highest return potential over the next 10yr period? Do you have any other names in mind which you would prefer or the ones I listed? Thanks

Shane.
