Q: Given the turmoil in the market at the present time, I want to increase my gold allocation and am considering these two companies. How would you rank them and what is your reason for the higher ranking? Do you have another producer in the sub-1M oz of gold production/yr range that you favor over these two companies? What would be your maximum allocation for gold stocks in today's market? I already have 1% positions in each of KNT and AGI.

Q: I have two small holdings in the materials sector, EQX (1% of portfolio) and NGT (1.5% of portfolio). I am thinking of consolidating them. NGT is the larger company by far, and has faced some negative investor sentiment recently, but to my knowledge, remains profitable and should perform better in the next several quarters. EQX has had better recent momentum, but is much smaller than NGT. This would be for a longer-term hold.
An alternative strategy would be to sell both and purchase another gold mining company with these funds.
I would appreciate any thoughts or insights you would be willing to share. Thanks so much, and I look forward to your reply.

Q: Good day,
In a recent announcement, EQX indicated that US$130 million conv debt is being converted into equity, and it talks about a secondary offering for the same amount - Q. Is that secondary offering to cover the debt, or is it in addition to the shares being issued for the debt conversion?
Thanks.

Q: I own the above Precious Metals companies having bought all over the past 4 or 5 years. Based on my cost all of them are in a profit position to varying degrees.
Each was bought for a somewhat different reason ie B2 because of heavy sell off n divi, Fortuna as a potential turnaround, Equinox as a turnaround .. similarly Wesdome.
I am always interested in holding good companies that have turnaround n takeout potential.
Which would you continue to hold and which would you sell to streamline my holdings keeping in mind AEM has performed well whilst some of the others have been following the general market updraft n may or may not have catalysts to drive them higher?

Q: Some time back, I came to the thesis that with all the financial stimulus, inflation would develop and that gold would rise. Well, we did have inflation but gold declined. Each of these 3 names may have had their own issues, I am down between 20 - 50 % on them. What is your view on gold going forward? What is your view on each of these 3 equities? Hold or sell, and why? Thank you for your excellent service.
Q: What do you think the prospects are for Equinox?
Q: I sold two thirds of my position in EQX in the high $10's and low 11"s a couple of weeks ago. I rebuilt part of that position in the low $9's but then the quarterly results came out and the stock got hammered down. I usually look at the results myself but I am too busy right now so could you give a quick run down on the results and what in particular the market didn't like. I hold DPM and Agnico Eagle in other account and AEM has been bouncing around a lot. Do you have a favorite out of these three and why?
Q: Hi Guys
Can you comment on Equinox. Due you view it as a decent company to hold in the Gold sector for a long term Hold ?
Thanks Gord

Q: Hi 5i,
A while ago i wrote and asked about selling ATZ because it had risen substantially, and you advised "we think one of the worst reasons to sell a stock is because it is up". I heeded your advice, did not sell and presently, I'm very happy I asked and that you answered as you did.
Which brings me to my question(s):
I hold DBM and after I bought in it dropped considerably and I was down just over 20% for what seemed like quite some time. Recently it's been climbing, to the point I'm now down 5%. I put a fair amount in (for me that is) so the money involved is significant to me. Along with hoping for capital gain, the dividend was a motivating factor in my buy in.
EQX did the same thing after I bought in and at one point I was down just over 40%. It has now recovered to the point that I'm down about 18%. Monetarily speaking I don't have nearly as much on the line as with DBM, so my level of concern is considerably less.
If these stocks continue their recent trends and continue to rise, would the advice you gave for ATZ hold true for them, or would you advise me to let them go if they get to or near my buy in?
I ask because I expect - but am not sure - that the advice not to sell just because a stock is up may not hold true in every situation, depending on the names in question. Your thoughts regarding DBM and EQX in this context will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Peter
