Q: What are the tax implications for Canadian investors relative to AGNC. I believe they are an investment trust. It is my understanding that all USA based trusts have negative tax consequences, such as 30% withholding tax and 10% tax on all proceeds of any sale of shares. Not protected in RRSP accounts. Is my information correct.

Q: A recent question/answer mentioned AGNC,NLY, BXMT. All have high yields 13-14%
Are these rates sustainable over a 3-5 year period. Would AGNC likely be the safest with only a 10.3 PE?
Thanks

Q: Hello 5i Team
Are US "mortgage reits" similar to Canadian Mortgage Investment Corporations?
Could you please provide a few ideas of US mortgage reits for me to research?
These would be held in an US$ RRSP, to minimize any tax considerations.
Would the distributions be similar to US corporate dividends and not US MLP distributions (K-1 tax form) which are problematic to hold in RRSP accounts?
Thank you

Q: What are your thoughts about this as a US/CDN high yield income portfolio? Any ideas would be appreciated. Please take as many credits as needed.
Q: Hi 5i, I heard Bill Gross suggesting AGNC on CNBC what do you folks think about this ticker. Also curious of what you think of FIS as a investment. Your thoughts are apreisiated.
Q: What are your thoughts on AGNC as an addition to one’s portfolio for income? The yield is double digit (so very attractive yet seems suspect) and the stock price is doing at bit better this year.
Q: Hi
Last Q on agnc was February…. Lots has changed since then including the share price
I just read an article on SeekingAlpha that suggests now is a better ( but not totally risk free) time to buy it.
BTW 5i is still my favourite source of info. Significantly so!
So I would appreciate your input on AGNC before going after that 15.7% dividend….
especially if it leads to falling off a cliff.
Or moving onto to another high yield but safer investment
Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Q: In response to previous questions on your site, you've discouraged owning stocks such as Annaly and AGNC Inv. Corp.
Does this view change-- for better or worse -- now that interest rates are likely to rise and the Fed stimulus is reduced? Why?

Q: I see the value of that stock always going down. I would have thought that they would benefit from a lower yield like the REITs, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Could you give me your opinion on this stock and what could happen to it if the Fed continue to lower the yield? Should I continue to hold expecting an improvement or accept a big loss and sell it now?
Thanks
Thanks
