Q: What is your opinion on TPL . Significant recent insider buying but trading at a very high multiple. Also in your opinion is there a glut of oil supply for next year or two especially with a good chance of the US and China's economy slowing. Thanks as always for your great work.

Q: Considering taking a position (up to 2%) in a dividend paying oil/gas company, and looking at FRU or WCP. Could I get your comments on the royalty structure vs a producer, as well as a comparison of the metrics such as payout percentage, debt, guidance, etc. Do you have a preference, and would you even consider adding an oil producer at this time. I have some ETFs with small positions in some oil companies, but no direct holdings of my own.
Thank-you

Q: I have not been in oil for years but am reviewing the matter for diversification. But here we are with 2 wars going on , OPEC+ cutting prices , Russia selling oil at discount , the world awash with oil and excess production, governments pushing green. Economists ( gotta love those guys ) were talking peak oil and $200.00 pbl. not that many years ago. So why should I want to buy a commodity with such lousy metrics ?
If I do take the plunge I’m looking at these 3 large caps. IMO has long been a well run company and I like to align myself with the American masters who keep on doing buybacks. CNQ is also shareholder friendly and well run. SU has a 100 years of reserves, an attractive retail operation but continual operational issues.
What is your view on oil long term and your favourite of these three ? Thanks. Derek

Q: Hi there,
I'd like to own 8 companies listed in the USA (but not necessarily USA based companies). The holding period can be 5 - 10 years or more as I am many years from retirement. I would like to focus on companies that have a moat and pricing power and strong earnings growth now and anticipated future earnings growth.
I am leaning towards an oil company, an insurance company, a resource company, a semi conductor or 'tech' stock, and the financial services industry. I want to avoid stocks de jour as I got badly burned this year in things like upstart, apps, and unity, although I understand that upstart may benefit from AI and I am open to considering that one as well.
I am considering: Abbv, Lnth, Sanofi, ISRG, Visa, Fisv, Nvda, STmicroelectronics NV, Sea Limited, Meli, and Anet, Mckesson Corp, Oxy or COP, among others.
I am not asking for a full report on any of the names above, just trying to throw a few names out that I was looking at. I am also open to etfs.
What would be your top 8 picks (not necessarily the ones I've mentioned)? I am okay with risk. Thank you,
Jason

Q: Hello Peter.
I’m considering buying TPL. First quarter earnings will be released on May 6.
It’s had quite a run in the past 3 months so should I wait for a pullback? If I should decide to buy, should I do so before or after earnings are released?
Thanks a lot for your great work.
Marc

Q: Last October, on a recommendation and some analysis I did of the stock, I ended up purchasing TPL. Since then, the stock has gone up by 177%. What is driving this price increase? Is there some underlying value beyond what I can see or is it unsubstantiated hype?

Q: Hi,
Is there an oil stock listed either in Canada or the US or both that does not have any debt on the books? If so, is it possible to name a few.
Thanks

Q: Just curious if you have any info and insight into this top pick on BNN last week from Hollis wealth.

Q: Was interested in your view on TEXAS PACIFIC LAND TRUST. Looks like a boring play that keeps grinding higher year after year. They seem to have a unique situation with their land holdings.
