Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: This is for my wife's RRSP, she is now 70 and will soon have to start withdrawing. Have recently sold J&J and have about 17K to re-invest. For the US portion of her portfolio she currently holds: AMTD; FB; AT&T; MSF. For stability (preservation of capital), some growth and growing dividends which of the above which you recommend without regard to sector. If you can suggest another or even two securities with better overall qualities that meet my requirements, I would appreciate your suggestion.

Q: Hi, please give me your thoughts on this microcap. The main product, MobiKEY, seems useful for data security and privacy. Do you see data security/privacy as an area for growth in light of the recent FB data issues? Any other names to watch or look at in a similar business? Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i,
For an RSP focused on growth, which two would you pick for cybersecurity exposure? Or would you pick something else (other than an ETF)?
TIA

Q: From what i see in the comments of the last months, these 8 companies seems to be among your US favorite stocks.
1- am I right about those 8?
2- would you like to add a few US names, could be in any sectors
3- I buy companies with a 10 year + timeline. A lot of companies i'm interest in are in the technology sector and I tend to be overweighted in that sector. Its hard for me to imagine technology not directly corrolated to industrial or consumer staples growth for exemple. Does it make senses to you to balance a technology overweight (30-40%) portfolio by diversifying among the technology sub-sectors?
4- I understand that you focus on Canadian companies. I also understand that your are conflicting free and that you mostly invest in US stocks. However, I'm pretty sure that a significant proportions of 5i members would be willing to pay for some form of US stocks advices. Maybe a US portfolio or a US favorise stock list. (maybe with a minimum market cap limit so your decisions would still be conflict free) Your services are unique and are a benediction for small investors. It would be a great opportunity for us to have them for the US market too. I'm sure a survey among members would prove me right.

thanks again for your amazing services

Q: I was looking at adding another US position to my portfolio. I hold VUN, BAC and FB already. The rest of my portfolio is well diversified so any sector is fine. I was looking for a stock or two that you think has very good upside over the next 5 years or more. I'd prefer one that doesn't pay dividends. I was thinking of ICHR

Q: Hi 5i Team

I'm aiming to increase exposure to US growth in the tech and industrial sectors (preferably with some dividend ) I am open to moderate risk and tend to hold positions for years.

Could you suggest 3 names in each to look into?

Thank you.
