Q: These six companies comprise my “Small Cap Canadian Technology” holdings. As I like their long term prospects, I am content to hold all of them for their recovery potential over the next few years. However, I would like a second opinion from you: would you agree they are all good companies worth holding, or would you switch any of them out for better quality names? If so, what would be your suggested replacements and why?
Q: I had planned on removing both of these stocks after 5i discontinued them. Unfortunately, I waited too long on and am now down 75% on REAL and 10% on GUD. I heard a speaker on BNN Bloomberg recently say that it is too late to sell stocks that declined since the fall 2021. My question is - should I continue to hold these stocks if I don't plan to use the cash from their sale to purchase anything new (they will stay in cash)? Is there any hope that they can improve?
thanks as always for your help
Q: Upon reading your recent report about its business model I am wondering how closely it competes with NAS nationwide appraisal service a private coy out of Markham Ontario and seemingly larger?
Q: Hi 5i
You have mentioned in previous responses that REAL should/could be taken private. If this was to happen, what happens to shares holders and what do you think share price could be worth if this was to happen.
What do you think odds are of this happening?
Previous answers you have clearly stated you could not endorse the company heading into earnings....In your opinion at this point, down -68% would you continue to be holders or rushing for exits ?
Q: I noticed REAl has perked up! Volume first and now a big $$ move. Is this DND related speculation? IE potentially being bought or a revaluation of sorts or something else entirely?
I'm new to the service and joined with the hope of finding an unbiased second opinion on my portfolio of stocks. I had the good fortune of purchasing in my TFSA SHOP ($1200); LSPD ($26.31); SE ($149); MELI ($769.45) and continue to hold. This year, not so good, I had purchased REAL ($18.16); ABST ($13.79); AT ($10.36) which with the exception of MX are all currently in the red.
My problem is that given my current YTD is at -13% I should probably shake up the TFSA. However, when I look at each stock individually I just can't bring myself to sell, I love the growth potential of them all.
I'm (obviously) ok with volatility in my portfolio and I do not anticipate needing the funds for 3+ years. I would appreciate your thoughts or ranking of these stocks in terms of growth potential from this point forward. Are there better stock opportunities I should consider out there for my TFSA ?
Q: I sold REAL for a tax loss, but like the company long-term. Would you buy back in after 30 days, assuming it hasn't soared? Or would you move on to another tech growth stock? I am considering AT, but wonder if you have any other recommendations? I already have full-weight positions in SYZ, TCS and ENGH.
Q: With year-end tax harvesting, I have sold off some of my holdings in the 6 stocks listed above. Can you please tell me which (if any) are worth buying again after 30 days; please rate from best to worst. If possible, can you recommend a few other over sold good long-term Canadian stocks that may be a buy now with year-end selling. Thanks!!!
Q: This question is about REAL...which is held in a TFSA....and is down 66% or 4,700 loonies as of this evening, Oct 25th As it is held in at TFSA,and not being able to claim a capital loss for tax purposes, I wondering what my options are?....and this stems from REAL being recently sold from the 5iR Growth Portfolio What comes to mind is #1..like sell now before the real tax loss season begins as it is likely to decline further #2..repurchase as the tax loss selling season ends or when it shows momentum #3...or just bit the bullet and move on Keen to get your take for my particular situation, even though you have moved on, or is there some other option, as I work to recover the loss, which I already know is not the best approach and something I don't do but as it is in the TFSA, I mentally just want to make up any loss on selling it by repurchasing it, crazy as it seems, eh?!.........Tom
