Q: SPY, QQQ, and IWM HAve what seem to be historically (and ridiculously) attenuated charts especially viewed from a 20 year perspective. Short of using trailing stop loss orders with each of my largely dividend-oriented equity positions, what would you recommend as a defensive strategy? E.G. gradually adding to a laddered IWM put and/or LEAP put position(s)?

Q: Am I missing any major sectors with these stock investments?
Where should I focus if I would like to ensure a diverse portfolio?
Are there any stocks that I should dump?

Q: Hello,
Do you think the trend of SPY outperforming Nasdaq will continue for the next 6 months or so? Also I am seeing IWM outperforming IWO..I am considering moving portions of my tech holdings to IWM and SPY for the next little while..What are your thoughts? Thanks.
Regards,
Shyam

Q: Do you have a recommendation on the best ETF idea with a growth focus over the next 15 year span to hold within an RESP? Starting with a small amount of capital so a single purchase that will be added to over time is pefered - otherwise would just copy your excellent growth portfolio!

Thanks again.

Q: Hello,
I understand that one has to file a form T1135 if one holds US stocks or ETFs over $100,000 anytime during a calendar year. If one intends to hold VOO, the suggested Canadian equivalent to avoid having to file T1135 is VFV. Is my understanding correct? If yes, what are the Canadian equivalents of QQQ and IWM?
Thank you

Q: If you had to pick 5 ETFs to fill an RRSP, for an investor with a 20+ year timeframe, which would you choose? To add a little context, mid 30's with a TFSA geared towards growth and I am comfortable with risk in that account. I also have a business account where I hold blue chip dividend paying stocks. Comfortable with risk in the RRSP as well but trying to find the sweet spot in between these two accounts.

Q: A few questions re best index ETFs for safety, total return and tax efficiency:
(1) S&P/TSX 60 (unregistered account): Is XIU, XIC or another ETF better?
(2) S&P 500 (RRSP/TFSA): What CAN listed ETF is best for long hold: ZSP, XSP or other ETF? If held in an RRSP (ie US dividend tax except), can you recommend the best US listed ETF for the S&P 500?
(3) NASDAQ 100 (RRSP/TFSA): What CAN listed ETF is best: ZNQ, ZQQ or another ETF? Is QQQ the best US listed?
(4) Ex-North America index (RRSP): Can you list the best CAN listed ETF index fund? Would you stick with large caps or all? XEF? VIU?
(5) Emerging market index ETFs (RRSP): ZEM, VEE or other?
(6) MISC: Has HXT, HXS and HXQ permanently resolved gov't issues and are these ETFs safe for long term hold?
Thank you!!

Q: Hello,
Can I get a couple of your recommendations for the best balanced growth ETF and/or mutual fund as well as a pure growth recommendation. Sector & Geographic allocation not a huge concern.
Thanks.

Q: I thinking of adding QQQ.US to my TFSA. I know there is a withholding tax for US dividends however the annual Dividend/Yield is only $1.74 or .055%. It appears the tax consequence would be minor in terms of dollars and cents. Is this reasonable . Thanks
Q: I currently have HXS and a large holding in Apple stock, All in a registered account. Thinking about adding QQQ-Q, for additional exposure to FANG stocks. Your thoughts thanks
Q: Is there much overlap in holdings between These two ETF’s?
Q: Dear 5i,
If one wanted to invest in bitcoin would you wait for a US listed ETF or would
you invest in an existing blockchain ETF like BLOK?
(Van Eck filed just recently for a bitcoin ETF)
On the same risk/return spectrum do you think there are better themes to invest in with my money? Please suggest alternatives and perhaps some ETF's to research.
happy new year

Q: Happy New Year to all at 5i!!!! I would like to make a TFSA investment for a long term hold in both QQQ and ARKK. Does this seem alright to do at this time? Should I chose one over the other, or would both investments compliment each other? Cheers, Tamara
Q: I would like to invest some funds in a TFSA account for a long term hold. I am considering QQQ or QQC.F. Which ETF do you recommend and why? Thank you very much. Best wishes for the Holiday Season and safe 2021.

Q: Can you suggest some eft's for the above sectors? Do have a couple tech companies in my portfolio such as Lightspeed and Shopify, but no "big" ones like Google, Apple etc. and WELL and PRN. Would like to find ETF's which may help to broaden my exposure in these sectors.
