Q: Hi Guys
i noticed you topped up Aritzia to 4.5% in your Jun update, the stock is down about 10% the last week or so, not sure i understand your strategy here. If a hard landing does come, which is quite possible, EPS could get crushed in this fashion retailer, i bet at some point its down another 30%, like many of the other stocks, take GOOS as another example.
Again it seems to me that 30-40 % draw downs from purchase price recommendations are no big deal.
Thanks ! Gordie

Q: I took a survey of younger family members in Canada and United States and they spoke very favourably of Artizia and said their stores aver quite popular. Their Aventura Florida store is a big hit according to my my sister in law who is a manager of the Banana Republic in the same mall. They are also putting in cafes in their stores.
For what its worth.

Q: Morning 5i Team,
I have held TRI since early 2020 and have since almost doubled my investment. I am thinking of taking some profits on TRI and invest the proceeds on something else. Would you agree with this move? And can you suggest a stock(s) to put the proceeds in regardless of sectors.
Thanks,
H

Q: Dear amazing 5i employee,

I trust that you are well!

An analyst at 5i noted (in answer to one of questions) that there are dozens of trading opportunities available in the market right now. Would you be able to list some of those opportunities? By trading opportunities I mean simple trades (buy low, sell high).

Yours kindly,
David

Q: I hold the listed equities/ ETF in my 14 year old grandson's RESP account. Given thee current environment what changes would you make in preparation for the next 4 years? I consider HFR is cash available.

Woule you consider adding some US listings for diversification? Given some current thinking regarding the US dollar would it be wiser to add Cdn listed ETFs of US companies? . What would be the tax implications of adding US listed companies that do not pay a dividend? Any paperwork?

Thanks very much. Take whatever credits are needed.

are there any stocks in the account that you would replace?,

Mike

Q: Over the last 30 years my best investments by far have been with smallish to medium sized profitable businesses with good long term growth prospects that I have bought and held for 10+ years. Generally market caps of roughly $500 million Cdn. to around $5 billion Cdn. A few have generated 20, 30 times my initial cost. I am wondering about the prospects of each of these following companies producing those kind of multi-bagger returns over the next 10 or 20 years. Would you please rank these companies in order from 1 to 13 according to the likelihood that they will become another CSU, BYD, WSP, TFII, etc. that can be a big, big winner for a long term investor: ATS, ATZ, DOO, EQB, GSY, HPS.A, KXS, LMN, NVEI, TIXT, TOI, TSU, WELL. Admittedly, TOI is a little big at $8 billion market cap.

Secondly, are there any other Cdn stocks in this size range that you would say have that kind of big upside potential, and where would you place them in comparison to the above listed companies.

Q: What are your views on Peller's most recent earnings? To me, they look horrible, and I'm wondering if I should just salvage my tax loss and move on. That said, the price is probably at the lowest of the low. How much patience should one extend to the turnaround possibilities?

Q: I have to sell most of my TFSA holdings but have the option to leave a bit in the account. I have approximately equal positions in the following stocks and I am down on each one. Each seem to have positive comments from the 5i team.

Could you please rank the 4 stocks in the order that you would keep them for a 5+ year hold in the TFSA?

GSY (-39%), SHOP (-15%), ATZ (-27%), TOI (-14%)

Q: Hello, with the current inflation scene, economy and interest rates, expectations of a pause by Federal Reserve and possibility of a soft landing, what sectors will be your favorites to invest/overweight today with a 5-10 years horizon ? And, in these sectors, what will be your best 3 picks, based on current valuation and future growth, in order, with suggested price levels to buy/add ?

Thank You

Q: I currently have a portfolio with these six holdings. What would be your current top 5-10 Cdn and/or US buys to diversify the portfolio and put a large cash balance to work for a 5-10 year time horizon with total return as the primary objective

Q: I liked the answer you gave to one of the members today on how to deal with volatility. Buy good companies run by good people at attractive valuations and hold for the long term. My question is:
What Canadian companies would you consider best fit the bill today? If you can give me 10 companies that would be super helpful.

Q: Good morning, At times you guys talk about a good company that has a long runway in the future but for now the investor will have to be patient. Wouldn't it make more sense to sell these stocks for the time being and invest in something that should have more short term potential? Typical of an Opportunity cost. A couple examples would be Aritzia and Brookfield, BN
