Q: Wow, it appears that there will be further, possibly much further decline in stock prices over the next while. That got me thinking/wondering about trimming of selling Canadian stock held in the TFSA....and these stocks are also held in a trading and registered account. Some, like ATZ and PBH are in the consumer discretionary sector, a sector that might be considered more risky in the current market setting. An others, like GSY that is the loan business, a subsector of the financial sector. And finally, there is industrials like TFII, and a US position in TT that also sells into Europe which is in turmoil. This is a sample of the holds that are still in a gain position. Would you consider trimming back to a more risk appropriate weighting, selling the ones in TFSA and avoid income tax or just hold and ride it out???....Thanks for your insight....Tom
Q: Hi again. A couple days ago Rose was asking about your top 5 US stock picks and you gave the above 5. Wasn't she asking about USA stocks and if yes, what would they be? If I misunderstood, they I would ask what would your top 5 USA stocks be please? Thanks again for this wonderful service.
Q: Hello,
Question I've been wondering about for some time. ATZ appears to be one of your favourite companies. However, given its focus on higher end fashion, in a downturn, would not GIL stand to benefit more, given its focus is more lower end day to day needs? What makes ATZ more preferable to own? Thanks as always for your great service.
Q: Hi group markets really tough to read right now ? what you 3 top sector's c/w 3 top picks in each / ideal entry price /short blurb on each.

Q: What 4-5 Cdn Companies would go good with this group if looking to balance things out a bit (more growth focus vs income). A couple of stocks I had in mine include: BAM.A, DOO, MG, DOL. Do any of these stocks seem like they w/b a good fit/mix or our there others that you think would be better choices?
Q: Uncle Harry finally died and left me $100000.00 which I totally didn’t expect from the old tight wad…. Would you feel comfortable investing it all now? 5 of your favorites would be appreciated and I am not risk adverse in this situation….Appreciate your great service….
Q: I have cash available to add a couple of stocks to this portfolio.
AQN,AT,ATA,BAM.A,BCE,BNS,EIF,ENB,KEY,NVEI,PBH,PRN,PXT,SLF,TFII,TOI,TSU,VDY,VFV,VGG,VVL,WELL,WSP,XAW.
Regardless of sector what are your top 2 or 3 recommendations to add to this portfolio.
I have a position in Lulu (slightly underwater) and ATZ (slight gain), but wondering if - all else equal - I should sell some Lulu and make ATZ a bigger allocation.
Can you compare them in terms of valuation, growth prospects, and any other general comments?
Also, how do you think the sector and Lulu/ATZ will do in a period of economic weakness and high inflation? My thoughts are that it is discretionary spending so that's not ideal, but also they should be able to pass on some inflation to the end user.
Some anecdotal thoughts - my good friend is a model and just started working for ATZ's new men's line. I asked him what he thought of the men's clothing he said it was really good, stylish, and thinks it will sell well. Take that with a grain of salt, but he's extremely fashionable and if he likes it that's definitely a good sign.
Q: Hi 5i; Thanks for your wonderful advice. You have helped my portfolio to grow for many, many years.
What would be your top picks at this time, in each of the following sectors: consumer discretionary, real estate and industrials. I am underweight in these and am looking for growth.
Q: Looking to reposition out of Oil&Gas. The noted companies have been beaten down. How would you rank for a 3 year horizon. Highest to lowest. Any other names you would add to this list?
Q: Not a question but just a comment that companies like Aritzia First Service and Go Easy would never have been on my radar without 5i. I’ve held all three for a number of years in my portfolio and they’ve done well. It’s also heartening and reinforcing to hear the “experts” on BNN Market Call selecting these names as Top Picks or strong recommendations. I appreciate your sound advice and recommendations. No doubt I can also mention losers that I’ve followed from 5i but my take is that it’s up to us to decide when to sell and what to buy based on your data and your informed advice. Thanks
I'd like to start a concentrated version of your balanced equity portfolio that is focused on growth. What are your top 6 ideas from the portfolio are you most bullish on, sector agnostic? The purpose would be concentrated growth.
Q: I have some money to invest and looking for growth over the next 5 to 7 years. Between the 3, which one would you side with at the moment. If you have a better suggestion, feel free to give your insight. Thanks !
