Q: looking to build a 5% weighting in consumer discretionary. hard sector to buy into given the Amazon effect. Had my eye on ULTA and SBUX for a while and they have pulled back to what looks like decent entry points. SBUX has an iconic brand and always seems to be able to grow the business. ULTA has done really well, seems to have good financials (very low debt) and good same store sales growth. how would you view these names in the cons disc space? would you have any better suggestions?

Q: Hi 5i, I've moved some cash over to a US account. Can you suggest 3 or 4 US growth names you would lean towards adding for 2017? I'm looking for pure growth / don't need dividends. Thanks.
Q: Merry Christmas to the 5i Team! My question is about consumer discretionary stocks. It's one of the areas in my portfolio that i lack exposure in (0% to be honest). I've been looking at ATD-B for a while and feel comfortable adding at the current price level. To get some more high quality names I've looked to the US and come across the usual suspects that seem fairly highly priced/valued. I've been looking at ULTA and COST. Might not be your area of expertise but your thoughts on these 2 companies or any other specific names you think are worth owning in the Cons Disc space?
Q: I have read your comments about companies records of meeting/missing/beating estimates. ULTA just raised their guidance and is up over 10% at the moment, but where would I find their record of beating estimates?
Thx as always.

Q: ULTA update:
Since I 1st asked about ULTA I have been waiting for an entry point as it pullbacks a bit.
There was a big ULTA block print of 900,000 shares at $232.75 via Goldman Sach. That is $209,475,000.
Was Smart Money buying or selling is always what needs to be figured out.
It is sitting around that price today and bounced off the $230 support level.
Will be interesting the next few days I suspect.

Q: Hi Team
I hold about 16% U.S. stocks in U.S. dollars. I am also well balanced, holding many within your 3 PFs (mostly the Balanced PF). I am thinking of buying ULTA with new US$ (1.25%). The stock is down about 6% or so in the last week. The only news I find is that ULTA is aligning with the Proactive product, which I would have thought would cause an uptick. Do you feel this is a good time to buy? Or is there a problem with ULTA?
I'm so very glad I joined in early 2014. What a difference you guys have made!!!

Q: I have barely ever read anything on anyone's website about ULTA-NASDAQ, Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance, Inc..
I unfortunately only learned of it over 1 year ago and not earlier.
It beats a lottery ticket in rewards.
It blows popular stock like AMZN, NFLX, GOOG, APPL....out of the water.
Do you have any thoughts, pros/cons, financial, management or else wise?
Since 7 years ago, ~April 2009 to recently:
- 90%/annum return!!!!!!!! That is almost a doubling every year!!
- $50,0000 invested ideally in 2009 would be ~$4.4 million now!!!
- its stock has been on a consistent slope upwards for 7 years.
- the stock never has a noticeable pullback so far since 2009.
