Q: Hi, may I please have your opinion for a long term hold. Do you think the dividend is sustainable? I see insider buying. Thank you.

Q: Hello 5i Team
Could you please provide an update on the mortgage investment corporation.
Are they a reasonable source of higher yield interest income?
The four MIC and First National have suffered the declines similar to the market.
These investments would be held in my RRSP for long term interest income and not for capital gains. These would be a small portion of my high yield fixed income portfolio which includes corporate bonds and convertible debentures.
How did MIC fare in the low interest rate environment after the 2008 crash / recession as most stock charts only go back 10 years.
Thanks for the excellent advice in the last four weeks with all the market changes.

Q: I have held timbercreek in my rrif for a longtime appreciating it's dividend but little growth. This seems to be a dim outlook for the mortgager in this market as it lost 5% yesterday despite the rally. Is it better that I sell?
Q: Would you add as its making all time highs?

Q: Comments would be appreciated about these two companies as sources of stable dividend income with some chance for capital appreciation. Is there any changes their dividends could be reduced in the near term?
Thanks,
Hugh

Q: Hello 5i Team
I am reviewing alternative high yield C$ investments for my RRSP for a small portion of my fixed income (< 5% of total portfolio ).
Looking at the publicly traded mortgage investment corporations (MIC) on the TSX - of the four listed, which would be your preferred choice and/or ranked in order.
Are there any other MIC listed on the TSX?
Could you also confirm that "dividends" for MICs are considered as "interest" if held in a non-taxable account.
Thanks in advance for the great service.

Q: Hello, would appreciate your opinion on Timber Creek Financial. My advisor is recommending it for income as it has a yield of 7%.
Thanks,

Q: We have just transferred from an advisor to a discount broker. We have a 8% position between two separate RIF accounts . As the risk is the same in a RIF or a TFSA account would it make sense to move this holding to our TFSA accounts with a total 5% holding
as there is no tax in the TFSA accounts? Your overall opinion of of the company please, and if 5% is too high of a holding for this company? Any other recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks MJ

Q: Hi – what is your general view of the MIC’s now, for TFSA or RSP.? Which MIC do you prefer if any? Can you please rank the three listed and indicate if there’s a different one that you prefer. Thanks.
Q: Good morning,
I'm considering adding a small position of BXMT in my Non Reg US portfolio to generate some additional US $ income. With a 7% yield, how safe is this distribution and would you recommend any other name in its place to achieve my objective? Also, your thoughts on TF in my RSSP account would be appreciated. Thank you
Franco

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan and all at 5i
My question concerns a small position that I own in CHW. It's a nice little company that largely flies under the radar.
The reason I bought stock in CHW is that I have a feeling that the Company will not be around for long (either privatized or taken out).
However, I have been studying the recent results from TF and its operations and it looks to be a better investment.
How would feel about switching Chesswood for Timbercreek?
Thank you

Q: This high yielding lender has held up reasonably well considering home capital. It's earnings come out may 4. In your opinion is it a fairly safe hold, an opportunity or too small so likely to be caught in the recent contagion. Thanks for your advice Tom
Q: Do you think this is a good entry point and how safe is the dividend?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Please give me your opinion of this co. and the people that are running it .thanks,ed
Q: To what extent are these two - or others like them - influenced by higher rates. My understanding was that this had become a very competitive sector yet both have appreciated significantly in recent months. What are their prospects?

Q: I'm aware of the interest rate and housing market sensitivity, but I'm still intrigued by the yield. Are the payouts of such MIC's classified as true dividend income (eligible for the dividend tax credit)?
If you aren't a big fan of these MICs, what would be your top 3 picks for companies with high (as safe as possible) yields (north of 6%)?
Thank you
