Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Hi 5i Team - In your answer to a previous question you mentioned First Solar and Next Tracker as two of your preferred companies in the solar energy field. Are there any others in Canada or the U.S. including small and mid-caps that you think have potential. They don't have to be profitable at this point but should have decent fundamentals. Thanks.

Q: 4 disasters in my cash account these year. Each position down between 30-45%.

How would you proceed?
Can you please give a brief comment on each security with a recommendation to either sell or hold. If selling is advised to crystallize a loss, what would be a proxy? And lastly, would you buy any of them back after the 30 day window?

Please feel free to deduct credits as you deem fit.

Thank you.

Q: Hi 5i,

I see in a recent Canadian Press article that Canada will need to build more green electricity generation and transmission to support the future net-zero emissions economy.

Are there any companies in 1). generation (nothing nuclear please) or 2). transmission related to this that would be good investments?

We already own most of the green utilities such as BEP, AQN, INE, BLX, NPI, NEE as well as other non-utilities such as HPS-A, PWR, ENPH.

Also, with regards to others countries also moving towards electrification, are there other companies outside of Canada that you would recommend?

Thank you 5i!

Q: Noticed an interesting pop in solar stocks today. Any particular reason for this? Also, I’ve noticed that they have traded sideways for several months now. Would you rather trade or invest in this sector?

Q: I noticed that when people ask for top “energy” names they are often provided with companies involved in oil and gas (eg. SU, CNQ, TOU, etc). What sector is the solar industry in and how do they compare to the top oil and gas names?

Q: Do you concur with seeking Alpha? Thanks!
Canadian Solar Inc. (CSIQ) is cheaply valued. Especially considering its growth potential. The company has a strong backlog in energy projects and plans significant production capacity expansion. It is also planning to unlock value by an IPO in China of a subsidiary. The relative valuation to peers looks good as well. The company had a strong performance over the past year, it's still a bit behind other solar stocks as shown by the Invesco Solar ETF (TAN).

Q: Please compare JCI and TT and state your preference if you have.
I would like a similar comparison for CSIQ and FSLR.
Deduct the appropriate number of questions.
Thanks for this help and the other information you have provided over the years.
