Q: Eqb has done very well since U recommendation, but recently dropped off. In general the big 6 Can Banks had put aside lots of Provision for Credit Loss(PCL).How much did Eqb allocate pcl?In my humble opinion it is likely higher than the big 6 as it is basically a secondary mortgage lender.Add,Hold or Sell. Please comment. Txs for U usual great services & views

Q: Am retired with a cash account full of utilities, banks , pipes, reits, telecoms etc. for income. Over the last 6 months have added BN and GSY for more growth. Have targeted the following growth stocks for next purchase :
XIT : basket of CDN techs
LMN : a mini CSU
EQB : Stephen Smith involvement
TSU: speciality insurance
TCN : faster growing US south residential real estate
Your opinion of each would be appreciated. What is your order of buying based on valuation and growth potential ?
Thanks. Derek

Q: If you were going to hold 2 of the big 6 Canadian banks long-term for dividend income along with EQB for some added growth, which two would you choose?
Thanks

Q: I notice right now you like EQB oven GSY even though EQB has gone up a lot in the last little while. I could have bought EQB at, I believe at$48 (Nov. 2022) not that long ago - seems very expensive now while, based on my research GSY has a lot more room to run. I know the man that started EQB way back when - he still has his shares - lucky dog. In any case, your comments please as I was going to add at some point to my GSY - only have 500 shs.

Q: Hello 5i team,
I sold "CAE" and made some money to find next growth name. Could you please suggest one? I already have "STN" and "CP" in my portfolio for your information. Your suggestion doesn’t have to be in the same sector though, I am looking for the best rewarding one as of today for 3-5 years holding. Thanks.

Q: I hold EQB in my income portion of the total portfolio. Where as 5iR allocates EQB to the Growth Portfolio which I don't have as a portion of my total portfolio. After reading the recent flash report of EQB, I'm inclined to now hold it in my Balance portion of the total portfolio. What do say you about this EQB transfer in my portfolio portions??? Also, I hold TRI that is now in the income portfolio. What do you say about transferring it to the Balance portion of the overall portfolio??? Thanks for the guidance......as I like to hold 20% in Income, 40% in Balance that is all Cdn and 40% in US stocks with more of a stronger tilt to growth that includes technology and healthcare........Tom
Q: Hello 5i Team
From previous answers, you have stated portfolio / sector allocations are a personal decision.
Currently I have approximately 20 % of my Canadian Equity Dividend (i.e. TSX dividend stocks) portfolio in the financial sector.
The financial sector holdings are divided into the following sub-category (industries) with representative stocks in each sub-category:
Asset Management – (BAM / BN)
Banks – (BMO / BMO / CM / RBC / TD)
Insurance (Life) – (GWO / MFC / SLF)
Insurance (P&C) – (DFY / FFH / IFC)
Questions:
1 – What would be appropriate percentages for each subcategory? An example would be should Banks be 50 % of the financial sector holdings (or 10 % of total equity holdings)?
2 – Is there any other sub-sector of the financial sector that I should be looking at along with associated companies?
Thank you

Q: Good Morning,
I'm considering selling some of my GSY or Telus for a new investment in EQB. Wondering if I can get your thoughts to determine if this move would make sense, and of the two, would you sell some GSY of Telus? Thanks. Brad

Q: Over the last 30 years my best investments by far have been with smallish to medium sized profitable businesses with good long term growth prospects that I have bought and held for 10+ years. Generally market caps of roughly $500 million Cdn. to around $5 billion Cdn. A few have generated 20, 30 times my initial cost. I am wondering about the prospects of each of these following companies producing those kind of multi-bagger returns over the next 10 or 20 years. Would you please rank these companies in order from 1 to 13 according to the likelihood that they will become another CSU, BYD, WSP, TFII, etc. that can be a big, big winner for a long term investor: ATS, ATZ, DOO, EQB, GSY, HPS.A, KXS, LMN, NVEI, TIXT, TOI, TSU, WELL. Admittedly, TOI is a little big at $8 billion market cap.
Secondly, are there any other Cdn stocks in this size range that you would say have that kind of big upside potential, and where would you place them in comparison to the above listed companies.

Q: Thinking of adding one of these to my TFSA. Which offers more growth and what would be a fair entry price?
Thank you for your steady support through these trying times.

Q: Hi,
I need to sell all the stocks in my non-registered account to access the cash in the next 2-5 years. I will be selling many of the stocks listed, in the next few weeks. Can you list them in SELL order with a few comments on the rationale.
Also, please list the top 10 Canadian stocks (from this list or others) for longterm holding, since I will buy some of them back in one of my registered accounts (RRSP, TFSA), likely over the next 2 years.
Thank you,
Camille
