Q: Dear team,
Thank you for your valuable investment guidance that has helped me to invest prudently so far. I have around $10,000 to invest in my RRSP this year.Which one of the following three stocks/ETFs -BABA, VGT, ZQQ- would you recommend to add to my portfolio? I already own equal weight of stocks FB, NVDA, BRK.A in my RRSP account. Many thanks in advance .

Q: Hello,
I was reviewing the data available via TD Waterhouse including Thomson Reuters reports, and compared revenue and net income growth in the past 2 years of Amazon, vs Alibaba vs JD.com (all somewhat in the same industry but latter 2 in China).
My read is Alibaba and JD.com have significantly higher growth in both metrics than Amazon.
Would appreciate your review please and thanks.

Q: I own shares in Shopify, now at a small loss. I was thinking about dumping them and moving into Baba, which has also gone up quite a bit but may be poised for more explosive gains in the future as far as I can tell. I would be interested and grateful for your comment on this proposed trade. I realize I'm trying to chase gains here. Thank you in advance.

Q: Hi team,
Great investment service. I seem to have trouble using a credit (a great problem) as when I am composing a question, I check the new Q&A and another subscriber has already asked a similar one on that security. So I get my question answered for free. I guess I will have to go outside Canada to use one.

The only time I invested in a company in China was in Sino-Forest about 7-8 years ago. It was an Action List Buy from TD. A few days later it was in freefall and I was down 25% before I could get out.

Eight years later, I am now considering BABA as another investment based in China. Most analysts are very enthusiastic about BABA as potentially having a bigger impact on e-commerce than AMZN. However, they always warn about the political risks of BABA. What exactly are the risks? Sino-Forest was a fraud. I don’t think BABA is a fraud. What else could happen? Could the Chinese Government nationalize the company or part thereof?
Also, earnings are coming out Thursday evening. I don’t usually like to step into a stock just before earnings. You could get a pop or a drop. So, what are all these political risks with BABA that the analysts allude to and would you purchase before earnings release, or if at all?

thanks

Q: Hello Peter, Ryan and 5i team,

I recently sold my position in BYD.un and would like to instead deploy the funds to add another one of the FAANG stocks?
The ytd return on BYD.un is just about 10% and would like a growth stock for a 5+year hold. I own half postions in FB, GOOG and would like to know which would you add and have most conviction with for a long term (forever?) hold? I was leaning towards AMZN, BABA or APPL? Or would you suggest a half position in a two of these?

Thank you as always for your valued opinion,
Regards,
Romeo

Q: Hello team,
Which one has the most downside risk? Which one has the most upside potential? Which one you would buy today and why? Would you consider all three as buy-and-forget kind of stock for the next five years? (Everyone is waiting for a correction, if not a market crash, and I am afraid of causing one by finally accepting to invest a bit.)
Thank you as always!

Q: Good afternoon, Peter & Co.
I am planning on diversifying my portfolio outside of North America and I am considering Alibaba and Tencent. May I have your comments on these companies and the timeliness of an immediate purchase.
With appreciation,
Ed

Q: Hello 5i, I'm a growth oriented investor with a broad diversified portfolio.
I have a full position in Transforce (TFII). I'm currently down 15% and thinking what I can currently do to increase my overall rate of return. In your professional opinion, would you suggest myself to sell TFII, take the loss and redeploy and invest in a similar company such as CNR? and or, invest in something in a different sector that would possibly produce more growth such as AMZN, BABA, GOOGL, for and within an investment time frame of 2 years. Please feel free and suggest any companies that you would recommend now for growth. Thank you for your excellent service.

Q: I am trying to identify the best E-Commerce to buy now for solid growth. You commented 6 months ago on Stamps.com (stmp-q). How have your views evolved since then on this company and how would you compare it to Priceline (pcln-q), Mercado Libre (meli-q), Netflix (nflx-q)and Alibaba (baba-q) ?
Very grateful for your views,

Jacques
