Q: Your thoughts on H & R as a long term hold for income, thanks

Q: I am considering adding this stock to my portfolio in a size that would be about 3% of the total. I have not held and real estate for a while and this would be a first step back into that segment. Your views on Granite please and what are 3 other real estate alternatives and how do you rank them vs Granite. Take as many question credits as appropriate.

Q: I am considering adding some real estate to my portfolio. I expect interest rates to remain relatively steady or drop slightly over the next two years. Do you think now is a good time to purchase a REIT or is there more potential downside as the interest rates on their debt resets higher as the debt matures? I am specifically looking at residential real estate companies. Of the above companies which one or two do you prefer and why? Is there a real estate sector you would prefer over residential?

Q: NTR's SP has been hit hard of late. Is this just a usual market panic or there is substance behind this set back. I'm sitting on the sideline with some cash and is debating if I should add to my current position (still up almost 65%) or add to my DIR.UN position (currently at an 8% loss).

NTR currently yields about 3% and DIR.UN about 5%. However I'm more interested in growth and less so than yield. Your advice? Thanks.

Q: How do you see the real estate sector performing over the next 12-18 months? In an otherwise balanced portfolio, I currently have no real estate holdings. Would you suggest I add here and - if yes - would you opt for RIT or DIR.UN? It would be a 3% total weighting. Alternatively, I could purchase either OTEX, EIF or PRMW. Looking for a combination of growth with a fair-sized dividend and moderate risk. What would recommend - and in what order (strongest first)? Thank you.

Q: I currently own both GRT.UN and KMP.UN. Would you be comfortable keeping both or would you recommend switching one or both for DIR.UN?

Q: REIT's are looking interesting at these prices. If you were to invest in only 1 REIT, can be US or Canada. With the thesis being you want to capitalize on the punished sector and get a quality name that has been beaten up and has a lot of upside versus a low risk name that hasn't come down much that will likely not have a ton of upside either. Which reit would you chose to invest in? Thx

Q: Which do you think have the most potential in the current environment in an RRSP? Currently own TCN at a loss and wonder if I shouldn't switch. Also own DIR.

Q: I am debating taking a half position in MRU and EMP-A or a full position in DIR-UN. The two grocery stores are down a bit but will there not be consumer pressure to keep prices reasonable which could influence profits? I have no idea! What would the experts at 5i suggest here?

Based on the questions pertaining to taxable dividends, and managing an income portfolio for my elderly parents, is there a substantial difference in tax treatment, if the above funds are held in a cash account? I was fortunate enough to get DIR.UN into a TFSA and am slowly moving AW into a TFSA as well. Do I take out the growthier names in the TFSA’s and move in the ETF’s or just let them go in a cash account?

Q: Saw Andrew Moffs on BNN Monday discussing REITs and Real Estate companies. Looking for a 2nd opinion on these 8. Maybe just a ranking from 1 to 8 in order of preference for a long term hold. Yield doesn't matter, looking for best total return. Which ones look buyable at this time?

I don't have any oil sector stocks or ETF, Reits or banks.Looking for idea's which could bring dividends and growth over time.Tks 5i take as many credits as required. 79 year old.Do not need any money to pay my RRIF monthly payment as I have Can account with ample cash for 18 months

Q: I must progressively restructurate a non-registrated portfolio, recovered in early 2022 for self-managing... Here are the percentage of each stock vs all portfolio, and also indications (+/-) if they are at a profit or at a loss on paper. stocks at profit are: BIP.UN (8% of portfolio), CM 5%, DIR. UN 3%, BIPC 1%, BCE 5%, ENB 2%, SGR.UN 1,5%. Stocks at a loss are: BN.PF.D (5% pf portfolio), TRP 1.5%, VET 1.2%.
My objectives are in order: stability, dividends, and some growth if possible.
Some stocks represent a probably too high percentage of the portfolio, I would not sell them “only to rebalance the portfolio” if they are still safe (to avoid non necessary capital gain tax), but I shall sell if they represent a risk. On the other hand, I would not sell stocks with a loss if they respond to my objectives.
I have already balanced a good part of this portfolio with ETF and a selection of stable dividend stocks. Those are the remaining stocks from the original portfolio..
Please give me suggestions for each stock according to objectives as : keep, sell, or sell partly. All of your comments are always greatly appreciated.

Q: These are my current holdings and I am looking forward to 2023. They are held in relatively the same quantities in 5 different accounts, a RRIF, 2 TFSA's and 2 Non registered accounts. I am retired an enjoy the income. Do you see any issues with these holdings or have any suggestions looking forward. The only non dividend holding is AR.
