Q: My financials consist of the above two stocks and a full position in GSY. AIF has been week and I am down 9%. AIF is 1.85% of my portfolio. ECN has done well and is up 12%. It makes up 2.25% of my portfolio. Which would you top up to a full position at this time. I also have a managed account that holds the usual canadian banks so I have narrowed my choice to the above two.

Q: Down on this 5 stocks.AIF(down 9.5%;Real below IPO price),CLS(12%),TV(7%),PKI(5%) & HWO(31%).Add,sell or hold with very short rationale.Appreciate u normal great views & services. Voliate markets. US markets are ok,but TSE has been declining mainly due to energy & materials.
Q: Hi Team, One of the reasons I own these stocks is that each of them does a lot of business in the U.S. and I wanted that exposure. However, with the renegotiation of NAFTA I am concerned these companies may face some headwinds maintaining and growing their respective businesses. Trump's "buy american" could certainly force some U.S. companies to start looking for U.S. based partnerships rather than Canadian. What does the staff at 5iR think? Is 5iR recommending any action at this time for these types of Canadian companies? Thanks Team Chris

Q: Hi - With the recent pullback in many stocks, have any of your favourites dipped in price enough that you would be advising clients to hop on board. Totally understand that this is just guessing but hoping that a few jump out at you. No need to consider KYC factors in your response. Many thanks!

Q: I am very impressed with your ability to limit your balanced portfolio to 25 stocks. Currently I hold the above six stocks in the financial sector whereas you hold three. The only one with large imbedded gains is REF.UN which I have held for over twenty years. one third of our total portfolio follows your balanced portfolio. The other 2/3s is managed for us and includes a large allocation to canadian banks. I am willing to sacrifice some stability for more growth. Would you consolidate any of the above stocks to simplify the portfolio? Below is my current allocations. My bias is to keeping REF, GSY and ECN.
2.23% aif
3.16% ref
2.36% ecn
1.90% fsz
2.54% gsy
1.86% slf

Q: Have a sizeable position in this stock and it's pretty flat. Can you reiterate the merits for holding this stock. Contemplating moving the money to other stocks which are relatively consistent performers or just going to cash and wait for a better opportunity. Thx

Q: Hey Peter and Co.:
I own the following stocks:
BNS, CCL.B, CNR, CGX, CSU, KXS, GUD, MG, MX, NFI, PPL, PBH, SIS, TOY, SJ, T, WSP, ZCL, VET, BCE, ENGH, TD.
I'm looking for a growth stock to add to my TFSA. I bought SIS for my TFSA last year and it's gone up nearly 100%, so thank you for that! What would you recommend here?
Thanks for all of your great advice over the years. cheers

Q: Based on available historical data, the above have compounded earnings > 10%. I intend to put these good companies into a RRIF to boost the return of a mostly bond/gic content.
In your opinion would you regard each of the above as a good company that should be able to provide a relatively stable future annual return of 8% to 10% with the exception of a market meltdown. Looking for some reassurance regarding the picks. Thank you.

Q: Hi Guys,
I'm updating my portfolio with the recent changes. I only have room to add one stock of either AIF or CLS. Which do you recommend?

Q: I have small position on FSV and doing well, It appears to be overvalued. Do you think it is good idea switching to AIF? thanks, Tim
Q: I was wondering if you are going to write an article about Real Matters that is going to go public soon? Like the one you wrote for Freshii? An article in G&M today states that selling shareholders must inform by Monday if they intend to sell their shares or not. Do you think AIF will be one of the selling shareholders? Thanks.

Q: Hi, I am glad that I did n't panick during the recent softness in Altus Group share price and stuck to my initial purchase when it was added to Balanced Portfolio. Ryan, on BNN talked about it's 14% stake in "Real Matters" (estimated $ 1 bln software co.) Real Matters filed for an IPO on April 11 and expected to go public some time in May, 2017. What will be the benefit to AIF and shareholders, in near and long term ? Also, what are your views on this IPO- is it worth participating ? Thanks

Q: Dear 5i
I recently bought AIF and ITC (half positions).
Both are down between 15 and 20% . Should i let things settle down a bit first before buying into a full position in each ?
In other words do you still have positive thoughts on these two stocks over the next 2-3 years ?
Thanks
Bill C
