Q: Good Morning my question is on SPE spartan energy. there is analyst that have said recently this was the stock to go to as for a small or mid cap stock and would be a good core holding for the oil sector. Would you recommend a 1/2 position at this time?
Thanks for the great work you do.
Q: Is the Spartan Energy price being down just sector related or do you see a problem? They just announced production and 2nd quarter financials and they seemed okay.
Q: Looking to add to my oil exposure. Outlook is 5 years+ for investments. How would you rank these companies today based on valuations if oil would be at $60 down the road.
Q: With oil down, what would be your top picks for a rebound when oil picks up, without being too leveraged? I was thinking of Cardinal, with its nice yield (do you think it will need to be cut?) I already have some Spartan, but it seems to be a well run company. Other choices that are on sale? Thanks.
Q: Hi guys looking at spartan energy recent quarter it looks excellent they have roughly the same production as raging river but a little higher debt they are 2.40 and raging river at 8.00 what's gives here your insight please. Thanks Jamie
Q: I am looking at making my first, (if you do not consider Interpipe) energy investment at 3 to 5% of my RRSP. Looking at the 4 stocks and note , over the past year, WCP up 20 %, SPE and RRX flat and TOG down 10%.
Has the recent noise with RRX changed your opinion ( good or bad)? Dividends are not important. Looking for the stock(s) with rising production and torque to oil prices. Please list in order of best using this criteria. Would owning 2 of these instead of one be better in this case? Thanks
Q: Hello:
RE: XLE Energy Select Sector SPDR (ETF)
(This ETF does not appear in your dropdown menu).
With the price of oil dropping today to the $49 level,
my position in XLE is down 10 % since I purchased mid Nov 2016.
I also hold SPE & PXT in my TFSA; my total Energy exposure is just over 4.5% of my total holdings.
What are your thoughts on XLE with regard to having it as a core holding in the energy space ? Would you recommend a Canadian energy ETF instead (i.e. ZEO) ?
My risk tolerance is medium to high, am looking for growth.
I purchased this ETF after Nov 8th and researched the "Trump" factor.
Appreciate your input ... thanks, Steve.
Q: I currently have half positions in these energy co.s & would like to move to full positions but am waiting on the uncertainty with the US to settle. It also appears that the OPEC production cuts are actually occurring to some extent but that they are only for a 6 month period. Given the US uncertainty & the OPEC situation I am wondering what the impacts might be on Cdn energy stocks & your thoughts on when to move to full positions, or whether the expiry of the OPEC agreement might be negative for Cdn energy? As always, thanks for your insights.
Q: I presently have VET, RRX, WCP, & SPE & VLO as energy stocks & am thinking of adding SU for its size & dividend as a long term hold. I would appreciate your thoughts & whether you feel the current price is an appropriate entry point? Thanks.
What oil company would you choose to take advantage of possible higher oil prices in the near future (in case of confrontation with Iran) while avoiding possible border tax proposals against Canadian oil? Would you choose smaller Canadian or US large cap? Which one do you think would be a safer bet SPE or SGY? Or would you recommend something with even better MANAGEMENT like VET with operations outside Canada? Or do you prefer a US company with better growth?
Thank you in advance for your promptness and insights.
