Q: Shopify's decision to sell it's distribution business has been well-received. However, the reasons for this divestiture -- complexity and distraction, as well as cost were entirely foreseeable before this initiative started. And the reasons for getting into distribution are not being mentioned in corporate explanations of the change. Have they just gone away? Does this change point to governance issues, such as the unusual independence of the CEO due to the share structure?
Q: Hello, Thank you and Kudos to 5i team for your unfaltering view on Shopify, and even bumping up the weight in the Balanced portfolio recently. Your unbiased and consistent opinion has been a huge support to us for maintaining a long term view on this company, while there has been so much pessimism and negativity in the market. We are very happy with market rewarding the stock last week and I am sure, there is a lot more to come over next several years.
Q: Do these 4 companies have the cash/cash flow to finance their current debt obligations? None of the companies are profitable I am concerned that they may not be able to raise the cash needed to fund operations in the current environment of rising interest rates, such that they may not be able to handle any debt due over the next year or two.
Q: I’m significantly underwater on these stocks. Can you please advise which ones you’d hold, and which ones you’d sell? Can you please also give 5 growth stocks in Canada and 5 in the US that you are high on right now in place of the above?
Q: In regards to TD - now that they have cancelled the First Horizon deal they will have an "excess capital" position. Is one possible use of that "excess" be to declare a special dividend. Is that even allowed by regulators - has a CDN bank ever declared a special dividend? What do you think they will do.
Thanks
Reg
Q: As a followup to my question yesterday about Leon's how seriously should we take this interest in setting up REIT? You have noted in the past that one of the underlying values of LNF was their real estate so is this an idea that management is floating or does it look like it will come to fruition? How should a shareholder react to this news - buy more, sell or hold until it plays out?
Q: Recently trimmed NVDA to bring position weight back in line. For US, any sector, what are a few top picks for a TFSA? And then how would IJT compare for growth potential and risk?
Q: Hello, With 5i decision to increase the Lumine weight, from 0.15% to 1.50%, can we follow the lead and take it as your nod to bump up the holding in our personal portfolios, at current price $19. ( Noted that CSU weight was trimmed by 0.5% and the logic to participate in future growth in LMN from these levels ). Of course, with the caveat that portfolio weights are still our personal decision.
Q: Hello, Do you think that CSU stock's systemic decline on Thursday with over a $100 drop was caused by the report - NR after market close, of a cyber security breach, in certain parts of its divisions. In your view, is it concerning ? Thanks
Q: When do they report? What do you anticipate the results to be? They claim very low break even costs that would support working capital and dividend. As well as growth. Are you able to validate their p/e? the company looks attractive based on potential and monthly div yield.
Q: Any new perspective or hope about VET at this very low point (and now big loss "on paper" ).., would you rank the stock as a hold, or sell for capital loss ? Thanks for your impression
Q: Hi 5i
As I've asked far too few questions and have load of question credits ... It's that time again ... what is 5i talking about internally that makes you all optimistic or pessimistic at this time? Would your views internally track the previous investor sentiment surveys and how does it differ (if it does).
Thanks
Q: Good Afternoon,
I have owned Killam for a while. There has been no appreciable growth or dividend increase. What is the likelihood of either happening. Would I be better off selling Killam and purchasing another stock? If so, what stock would you suggest that would offer some growth and a good dividend. There is no tax implications as I hold Killam in my TFSA.
Thanks in advance for your opinion.
