Q: We are divesting our last mutual fund worth ~$82K. It is currently providing ~$6300/yr as mainly ROC with a high MER. Not impressed. I am mainly an ETF purchaser having 88% of our total portfolio in ETFs and the 1 mutual fund. In comparing our holdings to the Canadian MoneySaver ETF portfolio we have about 15% in fixed income to CMM 20%, are low in utilities but generally our allocations correlate. I consider us conservative investors requiring income over growth as we are unemployed and needing to use income generated from investments. So not interested in holding US growth ETF. Realized that we do not hold any technology or consumer discretionary ETFs. In wanting to replace the mutual fund I have looked at 5i Income Portfolio and am thinking that taking about 1/3 of funds from sale into each of KWH.UN, ET and ECI. This would result in about 2%-2.5% allocation to utilities, consumer non-cyc and technology. This would bring our utility alloc to CMM ETF % and give more direct exposure to consumer and technology then small percentage that occurs in ETF holdings. What %/$ allocation would you consider appropriate for a sector overall? This allocation would provide ~$5600/yr income, the decrease is ok if consider that may get some growth over time. Intention is to not use capital for expenses for next 15 years. Have no pension plans. Would you consider the above as conservative direction to generate replacement income from fund or are there other alternatives in your opinion that could generate this level of income that may be a better option?

Q: With the drop of share price I have less than a full position in these stocks. I can top-off only two, which would you choose and why? Thanks!

Q: Hi, Desjardins came out with a $11.00 price target on CRIUS and a buy rating. That's almost a 49% increase and ad to that the 11% dividend. In your vu based on the latest financials, is this a realistic price target. Also, would a rate increase by the Bank of Canada on the 18th of April put more pressure on Crius's stock price.
Thank You.

Q: I currently hold PEGI at a small loss. It was picked by our advisor when we had one. I'm now managing the account and am less familiar with it so am considering selling and replacing with Crius, which at least I have 5i to support me with.

Both have their risks...what are your thoughts on the switch?

Cam.

Q: I have been researching Crius in great depth and I cannot find the cause of the price freefall. I am beginning to think there Crius might be impacted by the new Federal Energy Regulatory Commission guidelines on pipeline and electricity transmission line profits. Still, it seems a stretch the Commission would destroy an industry.
Can you help a drowning investor?
With great appreciation.

Q: Good morning 5i
Missing from my notes is the reason for opening a position in crius energy. I thought it was on a positive comment or portfolio inclusion at 5i. But I can find neither direct reference.

Would you please remind me of the attractiveness of kwh ......recognizing this is not a fortis or Brookfield size/risk type company.

What is it that is not working and dragging the stock price down?

Thanks
Dave

Q: I'm confused about this stock. BMO Investorline shows it's undervalued, and has an estimated 17% EPS growth forecast. But, they also show a +10% increase in revenues, and a -74% decrease in EPS in 2017. And then there's their business model: "provides electricity, natural gas and solar products to residential and commercial customers through an innovative brand strategy and multi-channel marketing approach". Are these the people behind locking in unsuspecting customers in binding contracts that promise to lower their utility rates, but actually end up costing them more? Your comments on their business and financials would be appreciated.

Q: It looks the Cdn $ is heading down. People I follow are thinking .74 cents. Given this, is there hope for my flailing US$ income stocks? Will a lower C$ help the above 3? If not, who would benefit in the income space?

TIA
