Q: Stocks in your model portfolios. TNC - when is this takeover going to be completed? It seems like it is taking a long time.
ITC - this stock is the majority of the time under $2.00 and for the short period of time that it goes above $2.00, everyone hits the sell button and it goes back below $2.00. Should I be hitting the sell button the next time it gets over $2.00 because it is the worst performing stock in my portfolio. PEO - also has over the last two months been another under-performer and so should I get out of it? Thank you for your good service Dennis.

Q: Hello 5i
Looking at the benefit of staying in TNC vs exit at current available trading price today of $3.30.
Sticking around to collect the sure 1.5% (call it 3% annual) gain from here and having a safe place to pick up this return feels comfortable.

Selling out now to an investment with great potential seems appropriate - but no guarantee of going up and could be a loss as market increase volatility.

Would you pleased offer your thoughts and comments on opportunity cost with current situation and likely candidates to switch into?

Thanks
DAve

Q: Hello 5i.
Thanks for the ongoing investor communication/Education.
I have had slightly positive overall results with mixed individual stock selection results utilizing 5i information.
Would have liked to be on the Shop ride but I could not buy into a stock moving up everyday and now doubled in three months. How do I not miss this next time?
I did buy the indicated holdings (SIS, GUD, ET, SYZ, PUR, TNC=cash)
Excluding TNC, the mix leaves me up 6.9% in the time frame of about a year or so..SYZ since 2014 and some various buying along the way.
I am not doing as well as you Portfolio so stock selection and timing clearly makes a difference.

With this list, should the Holdings be at full weights now for all of them?
For example, PUR is under small cap $ allotment while SYZ is over allotment.
Is there something I should be adding that is most appealing today even though I personally may have to hold my nose and buy? (Portfolio is well diversified and balanced)

Also, it is clear I am not benefiting from the stock category you sometimes highlight as "winners" or "1000% gainers" to help propel my portfolio gains. Should I be trying to buy all the investment in your total portfolio or how does one use 5i service to benefit to the max?

Thanks
Dave

Q: Hi. Since joining your service I have slowly sold my mutual funds and built up the portfolio listed. I have an equal percentage of these listed except M at 16% AVO at 1.6% and SGY at .6 %. I have a mutual fund left at 6% that I would like to sell. For a balanced portfolio today what would you recommend I purchase? 3 - 5 year timeframe. Please deduct appropriate credits for the long question. Thanks.

Q: Maybe better for forum, but further to question about TNC trading, and opportunity cost - I was slow to buy ITC and PHO at time first mentioned in Q&A and when 5i added to Portfolio. But then TNC offer came up. Sold TNC at 3.29 and purchased ITC & PHO per suggestion. I didn't buy at the lowest price after TNC announcement but up 26% and 15% on positions respectively at moment, though will be volatile positions for sure

Q: Why do the shares since the BUY announcement only change between $3.28 & 3.29 & generally on a daily volume of +/- 1,000,000 shares. It just seems to me that most shareholders would want 3.25 or close thereto unless you owned only 1-2000 shares. For myself & friends, we own in the range of 25 - 40,000 shares each. We would sell for a 1 or 2 cent drop just to move capital but not .08 cents. Time is money!

Q: I'm trying to tidy up my wife's RRSP small holdings, of the currently 26 in total.
ECM @ .65% [of the total portfolio] up 14.65%
EFX @ 1.26% " up 43.66%
SIS @ 1.49% " up 2.65%
TIO @ 1.35 " up 44% [taken out by PP,decision made]
I was considering consolidating these 4 to just one or two names.
Your thoughts on this action and or alternate suggestions?

Cheers and thx for your fine service!

Q: Hi Team, I echo the others to say thanks re: TNC, I have doubled my investment. I will replace with 2 different holdings and would like something of the same risk dynamic. In my small/cap higher risk category, I own PHO and a half position of DBO (down 35%). I also own PLI and LTE. I am up on everything except DBO. You have suggested ITC, which I don't yet own yet, is there another holding that you could suggest that would fit the description of a good quality company with growth potential, although higher risk? Should I add the other half position of DBO? Thanks as always.

Q: Good Morning
Firstly, thank you for guiding me towards TNC. Although the premium offered is disappointing I will still book a 50% profit in my TFSA on a company that was nowhere on my radar without 5i. I've narrowed down my replacement to either OTEK or PHO. do you prefer one over the other?
Thank you for your continued guidance
