Q: I appreciate all of 5I's recent comments on Spin Master, and I think for the most part I would guess that you're right, however I would like to weigh in here on the company.

I'm not sure I agree wholeheartedly on your positive stance of the company right now. How many toys are we talking about? This is what I can't determine. Is it .001% of total sales, or are we looking at 10% of total sales.

It's "media hype" only if the percentage is very small, and the stories are being exaggerated.

It would seem more like institutional failure, on the other hand, if the percentage is an appreciable number. Where is quality control in all of this? You would think that with such an important launch that all the Ps and Qs had been attended to. It makes me nervous that this wasn't done; and it makes me wary of the management. It speaks of an inexperienced team trying to do too much too soon.

I suppose in the end, what determines whether to stay or go, is to determine if we are talking about only "1 or 2 toys" ... or if we are talking about a company which is running before it can walk.

Your comments on this would be most appreciated.

I am a holder, and hold still, but am concerned that maybe this little fiasco of theirs is revealing that we may have bought a pig in a poke.

Thank you.

Q: Hi, with reference to a previous question, Spin Master's website is very much up and running. https://www.spinmaster.com

In fact, I had a chance to review consumers' comments as well as Spin Master replies on their facebook page. Looks like, most issues revolve around users unable to follow instructions, as specified. There were also a number of comments from users who were finally able to operate the toy after following recommended you tube video.

It appears that the highly interactive nature of the toy got many by surprise.

On a side note, one of the popular Interactive version of Barbie doll (Mattel) also faced issues with error messages.

I was able to add to my position, taking advantage of drop in share price, yesterday.

Q: Hello Peter and Ryan,
Without knowing my portfolio details, I know it is hard to give advice. However, I do have a diversified portfolio and am looking to add a long term growth stock and a dividend paying stock without using my cash. I have to sell a stock and replace with another. I constantly hear good things about Spin Master. I was thinking of selling Alterra Power corp and Brookfield Business Partners and use proceeds to buy Spin Master. Does this switch make sense? Kinder morgan (aside from protests) has had good news with government approval and potential sale of their assets. However, the stock is not moving which is surprising. Is it worth holding or replace with ENB and TRP to get some growth and dividends. Lastly, Magna and Linamar have had good gains. Time to sell or let them run? Please let me know. Thanks again

Q: Peter, these are stocks that I believe you have recently suggested for growth. Some have had decent pullbacks in price. Can you please rank these, based on today's prices, for purposes of long-term capital and income gains in a TFSA. And, if you have an alternative current favourite to add, please add it to the rankings. Thank you!

Q: Hello 5i
I have been reading a great deal of your responses that include comments implying a short term top developing in many 2016 good stocks.
Rotation out of the winners.
Year end Selling
Manger Positioning
Easy to sell winners for cash

And on the other side, 5i continues to recommend many of these names as investable today.

How is an investor to reconcile buy recommendations(at what feels like short term high) with declining stock prices and the scepter of a January pull back after the 2016 tax year passes.....and when the typical selling period begins for previous year winners?

If one is not a trader, what investor action is to be taken to ensure long term success with volatile names that appear to be in decline today?

(as a note: I may not be in some of these names without 5i.....good(a few nice gain positions-thanks) and bad(dealing with volatility)

Thanks
Dave

Q: Hi, we have Shopify and Spin Master in most accounts in the family.

Shopify has been quite volatile, in line with FANG and other technology stocks, but its swings are much higher than its peers. Recently it traded as low as $50.84 ( after a week of Trump win)and within a week as high as $60.50. Is it worth adding at current level $52?

Spin Master had an incredible run to $39.50. With recent pullback, is it prudent to add at $34-$35 level?

Thank you.

Q: When I go to the "ask a question" box there is always the start of someone elses question? Please fix.
To my question on TOY; the drop today of nearly 10% has occurred with only 100+/-unit bids & trades this AM at 6-8500 - whereas daily volume is generally around 50-60,000 trades. Just curious & would appreciate your comments. Thank you.

Q: I would like to have your opinion as to which one (or three) equities , based on growth and weighing risk, you would pick for an aggressive TFSA. Thank you.

Q: I would like to add these companies to my portfolio.
They seem expensive, but I assume over the long term you are good with any of them at these levels.

In what order would add these. Is one of them better value at this point?

I have some tiny positions in XTC, BB, BOS, and was planning on selling these. I also have a 1% position in DHX. Should I just get rid of these tiny positions and consolidate into one or two of the names above.

Cheers.

Q: I currently have a half position in TOY and am up 12 percent. I want to buy the other half but I've read that most of their sales are this quarter for christmas. So does that mean the stock will be much lower in January and for the next three quarters? I guess I'm wondering if I'd be buying at a high and should wait until mid next year?
