Q: I am heavy financials at about 20%, I should probably trim the herd....All but CHW will generate a large capital gain as I have held most for a long time. I hate to sell CHW as it pays a crazy div right now at almost 8%.

I am leaning towards holding all but taking the dividends and putting into other sectors (stock from the your balance portfolio following your balanced equity portfolio) and not adding any new financials to my holding.

Can you provide a compelling argument for selling 1 or 2 of the above for the sole purpose pf rebalancing out of financial. Or is my slow but steady approach with lower tax implications a reasonable compromise knowing I will be heavy financial for several years.

Q: Good day Ryan, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the latest earnings release. Their fourth quarter and annual net income benefited from a one time recovery of 9.4 million and going forward they benefit from an estimated 3 million annual net income due to lower U.S. corporate tax rate. So if you take away the one time 9.4 mill is the 3 million enough to increase their growth going forward? Will they be able to increase their dividend or pay a special dividend? A couple questions here thanks much AEO

Q: Hi Peter and Ryan,
Would you consider Chesswood group a long term hold as the stock hardly moves and if it does, it is to the downside. It does have a nice dividend but given its performance, it is not a good enough reason to keep it. Your thoughts please. Also, i am thinking of increasing my weight to 5 percent for Savaria or Constellation software. I am leaning towards Savaria (growing sector, decent dividend, good momentum), but your thoughts please. Thanks very much.

Q: Hello,

I have some cash in my TFSA, and I am interested in buying a stock with good growth in capital and dividend appreciation. I am a long term investor.

Currently in my TFSA, I have FAP, CHW, NEPT, PHO, SIS and S.

I am looking at TWM, Tidewater Midstream and Infrastructure.

What do you think of TWM? Or do you have a better recommendation?

Thank you very much.

Q: Chesswood has announced that they will redeem all $20 million of its outstanding 6.5% convertible debentures in January 2018, well ahead of their maturity date of December 31, 2018
Can you explain 1) what is a convertible debenture? And 2) how material is it when these are redeemed ahead of their maturity date?
Thanks
John
