Q: Big bounce today on no news! (?) I've owned this since joining 5i. It has gone in and out of market favour but I've always enjoyed the dividend. I've been picking up dividend stocks for the last year and done well but I am not expecting a lot of growth from them from here. SYZ should get some decent growth and the yield is healthy. I like the SaaS field and this being tied to government work - which seems a way to get some beta away from the market business cycle. Does it really fit this bill? Yield makes me patient how do you see it over all?
TIA

Q: Two part question. 1) What do you make of the company holding their conference call to discuss the (very poor) quarterly results FIVE days after releasing their results? You would think that management would want to get in front of these bad numbers and try to minimize the damage. 2) This company has transitioned into a turn around story with declining sales. Is this not an indication to sell?

Q: Just a follow-up to the question I just posed. Own SYZ for several months now and down 23%. Should I keep it going forward. Like other tech holdings - in total represent a small fraction of total assets owned.
Q: SYZ has been quite soft the past few days. Don't see any news to explain. Do you see anything? What is your outlook and when do they next report?
Q: whats causing the drop today? Thx

Q: I'm really overweight in IT. Close to 35% but I need to get down to 20% or less. IT holdings are: KXS (3.1%); SHOP (16.9%); CSU (5.2%); TOI (0.4%); DND (0.2%); LSPD (2.0%); SYZ (1.4%); PHO (1.0%); CRWD (2%); NVDA (0.7%); DOCU (1.5%).
Not sure if it makes a difference but all are in TFSA except KXS, CRWD and DOCU (cash/margin account). Due to the fact that I'm working I don't want to trigger any taxable gains if possible. Obviously I need to trim SHOP by at least 1/2.
SYZ seems to be a laggard since it has only appreciated 45% in almost 7 years so I think I should sell that. Do you agree? (assuming a balanced portfolio).
Aren't DND and PHO going to be purchased?
I'm emotionally attached to the high gains otherwise... What's your suggestion on how to bring down my IT holdings in a tax efficient way?

Q: Just opening the management circular dated may 3rd. The board members are mostly fairly new. the proposed options smorgasbord looks very appetizing for insiders. Also the insiders stakes are not generally high. No wonder since they cash their options a,s,a,p,. For such a small company the executives compensations are rich. The release coincide with the start of the marked decline in stock price.
The performance over 10 years has been outstanding and the yield today is attractive, What do you think of the newer board? do you see better opportunities for growth?
Thank you.

Q: Non-registered account with goal of primarily dividend income has done quite well, with all of the noted holdings nicely in positive territory. In hind sight MG and SYZ would have been in a registered account. SYZ is up 63%, MG 24%.
Overall account yield is currently 3.8%. Would prefer it closer to 5%
Need some help with this "good problem". Take capital gain now and move into yieldier positions, or let running stocks run and deal with bigger gain in future?
If I move out of some of the growthier stocks, which div payers minimum 3% yield to move into?
Overall portfolio diversification is pretty decent, and diversification within this account does not have to be perfect - dividend security within this account is more important.
Thanks,
Jim
