Q: Good Morning 5i,

Looking for a bit of guidance in adding to my CDN portfolio. Bit of a long-winded question so please deduct credits as appropriate.

I have 27 positions. The smallest positions are at about 2.75% (FTS, NTR) and largest are at about 6.5% (ENB, BNS).

Sector Allocations as follows:
Financial - 20%, Energy - 20% (almost entirely midstreams/pipes - ENB, KEY, IPL - Vermilion is the exception), Industrials - 12%, Materials 5.5%, Cons. Cyc - 7%, Cons. Defensive - 3%, Telco - 8.5%, Utilities 14%, Healthcare - 4%, Info Tech - 5.5%

Holdings are almost all 'boring' names, dividend payers/growers even though my risk tolerance is high and we are in our late 30's with no intention of touching this portfolio for decades. There are a few growthier co.'s in there that have come from your suggestions - GC, KXS, SIS, for example.

We have funds for 3 new positions - 2 in cash account, and 1 in a TFSA after contributing this year's limit, each position worth roughly 3.5%

I've been leaning towards BAM, as an all around well run company and exposure in things like real estate and infrastructure that is currently not in this portfolio.

Can't settle in on the other 2 positions, although my sector allocations scream at me to add more Technology. I simply cannot figure out what would be good buys here - I keep going back and forth in my head between growth options (PHO) and more boring options like Evertz.

Can you give me your opinion on this? First of all on whether (based on my current allocations) I should be looking at tech or somewhere else. Second, on the specific names to recommend (given a timeline measured in decades). Third, on the addition of BAM? Finally, on where you would add the positions (TFSA or CASH)?

Again, multiple part question so please deduct as appropriate.

Thank you so much,
Ryan

Q: I currently own CLS and thinking of selling this stock and buying SYZ or OTEX or would it be best to buy both? I currently already have KXS and PHO. These are the only 2 tech stocks that I will own after selling CLS. My total weight is only 5%.

Thanks

Q: Hi 5I,
The above names are all owned in my TFSA. Of these, I am underweight in COV, IWO, PHO, SDX, SYZ AND VB. I've got some cash to put to work with a long term objective. With consideration to the sector weighting, and my under weights, would you recommend I top up on any at this time or maybe introduce a completely different name or names to the portfolio? Thanks!

Q: My TFSA is all cash and represents 2 % of total with rest split evenly between RSP and cash account holding solid blue chip stocks.
I use for fun money usually selling if getting 20% return ( that doesn’t happen very often ! )
Am looking at equal amounts of these stocks.
Your thoughts on each one is appreciated Any other candidates?
Thanks
Derek

Q: Hello 5i team,

I have 1/2 position in each of the names listed above in a TFSA and have funds to top up two of them to full positions. Objective is growth with long time frame and OK with risk.
Which two would you recommend and why?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Q: Hi Peter and Team,

The Info Tech component of equities in all our accounts is 16.2%. The following stocks and ETFs are held, followed by their weightings:

CSU 7.1%
ENGH 1.4%
KXS 2.2%
OTEX 2.3%
SYZ 1.0 %
TXF 1.9%
XIT 0.3% (used to put small amounts of cash since there's no commission with iTrade)

Would it be prudent to trim CSU, and if so, to what level?
What is your opinion of the other holdings, and are their weightings appropriate?
Are the Info Tech holdings too high a percentage of the overall portfolio?

Thanks in advance for your valuable guidance. Please deduct as many credits as you deem necessary.
