Q: Hi,

I am interested in $Cdn ETFs that are designed for inflation and where the underlying securities have pricing power? If any, do you have a favourite? If you have a favourite, the reasons why?

Many Thanks,
Derek

Q: Hello Peter,
With rising rates, it seems that banks, commodities and industrials do well. Can you please suggest some etfs in Canada that would take advantage of those sectors? For the banks, i am thinking xfn and zeb but unsure of the others. Also, the US banks are taking small hits. Do you think canadian banks will follow suit or are they very different? Thanks very much.

Q: I own XEI, ALA, and TOUr but little oil.

I'm hoping to buy base metals and oil in an CDN etf. Do you think this is a good idea and what would you recommend?

Q: Hi Guys,
I bought COPX as a way to invest indirectly in the change over to EV's given that an EV uses double the amount of copper in each vehicle and would hold for a number of years. I still think its a good choice, however I'm now thinking perhaps I should have spread the risk with a broader based commodity ETF, can you suggest a broader based commodity ETF in Canada & the USA that you would consider building a position in over time.
Best regards,
Tom

Q: Hello 5i Team. First of all thanks for the report on MG. I bought a nice position and the next day saw it go up by >9%. Cheers to you for that!

I have a question for you about two metals stocks I held in December but sold to pursue a bigger stake in FCC which has paid off nicely. Now that I am adding more to RRSP for income tax purposes I am looking at getting back into some metals or mining stocks.

I sold XBM at 16.02 in December and now see it at 18.00, would you buy at this price? I sold KNT at $8.49 and now it's on sale for $6.56. Any recommendations to get back into either stock or alternatives in the metals sector? My investment timeframe is 20+ years and medium risk. Thanks.

Q: Good Morning
Technicals on XBM would indicate that we are entering a growth period for base metals, however, "Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS.TO) on Monday said concerns over Donald Trump's trade war with China is likely to dominate the outlook for commodities in the fourth quarter, predicting the issue could be a drag on markets until the 2020 U.S. election. The bank said that while a new North American trade agreement may decrease uncertainty, the U.S. trade war with China is likely to cut commodity prices for most metals."
What is your stance on base metals for the upcoming period?

Q: The above stocks and 1 ETF comprise my base metal holdings. Performance of several ( LLG, NMX, ALB, TV) has been dismal since purchase. I bought thinking that it was a good time in the business cycle to own commodities, with a slant towards lithium as you can see. The dollars invested in total are less than 3% of my portfolio. I am prepared to hold if the companies are performing adequately, but would appreciate whether you would consider any of the above sells or “not necessary to own” as you have coined in the past. Would it be preferable to sell all and buy Teck Resources? Thank you kindly for your consideration of this question and please deduct as many points as appropriate for such a lengthy list.
