Q: Hi Peter,My guess on RNW which I have owned since inception is that it will eventually be part of bep.un they already own a substantial position.all so if 5i followed EIF what letter grade rating would you give this co.I took a full position in eif the day after TD downgraded it.
Kind Regards
Stan

Q: I own RNW for income. I bought in Jan. 2016, so I have a capital gain of 37%. For long term safety and security of both my principle and the dividends, would you favor selling RNW and buying BEP.UN with the proceeds? The yields are similar. (RNW 6.48%, BEP.UN 6.052. I just don't want to get caught if RNW shares start declining.

Q: Planning to add 2 of the suggested utilities to a growth portfolio or alternates that you might suggest & the rationale. Thank you.

Q: I read a previous response regarding TA & RNW. You stated that TA owns 37% of RNW but from what I can find, it appears they actually own 64%. Can you please clarify this and then provide your comments on purchasing TA as a deep value play. If they actually own 64% of RNW, it appears to be extremely reasonably priced (you are almost getting the TA assets for free...)

Thoughts?

Q: I have a full 3% position here, its one of my more well timed picks as I entered in Jan at $9.25. I am concerned a little here in regards to its big brother TransAlta Corp. It's apparently got itself up for sale and is certainly struggling. To what extent do the two relate now? If TA fails or is sold on the cheap how will it impact RNW? I like the div. but since I have a good capital gain am wondering if I should lighten up here in favor of a perhaps other safer renewable. Your thoughts, thanks

Q: Hi 5i,
Are you able to provide any more detail on the rumour that Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners (BEP.UN) might be interested in Transalta Renewables (RNW)? At the current share price, is there sufficient value for them to pay enough of a premium to have a chance at a successful bid and still stay within an earnings-accretive price range? Thanks!

Q: Hi, 5i.

For pure utilities, I have BEP (2.0%) and RNW (1.5%). I also have ENB (2.0%) and IPL (1.0%) if you consider those utilities.

I'm looking to increase my utilities allocation and wondering if I should add to what I have or take a position in Fortis (or another name you recommend).

Thank you,
Robert
