Q: I move in and out of gold depending on my fear level and currently have no exposure. Trump is managing to change my perception, however, and am currently looking for ideas. GLDI seems to have a screaming nice yield, but share depreciation has eaten away any gains over the past year. What would need to happen to the gold price to reverse this trend. Any thoughts or other ideas (excluding GLD and XGD).
Thanks in advance

Q: Hi team, I'm just starting up my portfolio, and am looking for exposure in the Mining & Metals industry. As my account is still small, I'm trying to avoid transaction fees. Can you suggest one or two ETF's that target this industry, which you like for a 3-5 year hold. While I'm looking for growth potential, a decent dividend never hurt!
Q: Hi Guys, is there a similar ETF for Silver? Many thanks, Austin

Q: Mfc1192. I purchased this at around 50 per share 10yrs ago and had been under water since. It is now near 70. What would ur opnion be to continue to hold thru the seasonal strenght a little longer and maybe sell half or all and would there be a better or less expensive alternative?

Q: I have a large portfolio of 1.3 Mil in value. They are accross all sectors. I will be adding another 200k shortly. I have no precious metals in my portfolio as I was not comfortable with the volatility. What would you suggest for percentage amount of precious metals and what companies, ETF's
would you suggest. Is holding physical gold less volatile that companies?
If so, is there an ETF that holds physical gold.

Q: Peter; Gold is up roughly $10-11. this am and the XGD is down, along with gold stocks of course. Does this indicate anything to you from your trading days m I.e. is the " market" saying the stocks are overdone or? Thanks, Rod
Q: Materials makes up 5% of my portfolio and includes 2 items BHP Billiton and XGD (thanks for recommending it). I am nervous about BHP. Can you recommend a good replacement or does BHP have a lot more upside?
Q: Is there a good gold ETF that you could recommend that will benefit if gold resumes its upward course
Q: I have a question about XGD. I believe you like this fund and I've been keeping an eye on it, with a view to purchase. It keeps going up and I haven't had to guts to purchase. I have this feeling that once I purchase it, the downward trend begins! What is your view of the current price and when the party might stop?
Q: Hi. Can you give a comparison between XGD, which you have written about earlier, and ZGD, the BMO Equal Weight Gold index ETF for which it seems this might be the first question. Is there value in holding both as my exposure to gold?

Q: I read with interest your recent article in the Post and was intrigued by the comment that research shows 90% of portfolio returns come from sector allocation - if a person wanted to take advantage of that, in a simple, easy to manage and inexpensive way (ignoring taxes for the moment) what would be your view be on an approach where one's equity component of their portfolio consisted entirely of a number of ETF's with each one of the ETF's focused on a particular sector, with a periodic (say quarterly) rebalancing? What specific ETF's would you suggest for such a portfolio? Thank you.
Q: I am in the process of creating a balanced portfolio and am underweight in commodities area and would like your recommendations on an ETF.
Q: I have a small position in XGD. Would this be your fav Canadian gold etf. Also, is there a precious metals ETF you could recommend?
Thanks GUY R.
