- VanEck Gold Miners ETF (GDX)
- VanEck Junior Gold Miners ETF (GDXJ)
Q: Hi 5i,
Thank you in advance for you guidance. It is much appreciated. So, I am very bullish for gold and silver. I have invested in physical gold and but I want to take advantage of gold and silver companies as well. I love The Gold Fund at EuroPacific Asset Management (https://europacificfunds.com/funds/gold-fund/) that is managed by Adrian Day, but it requires a $100K minimum investment for Canadians. Can you recommend a really great ETF or Mutual Fund that is similar?

- Wheaton Precious Metals Corp. (WPM)
- First Majestic Silver Corp. (FR)
- iShares S&P/TSX Global Gold Index ETF (XGD)
- Horizons Enhanced Income Gold Producers ETF (HEP)
- MAG Silver Corp. (MAG)
- Silvercorp Metals Inc. (SVM)
- Sprott Physical Gold and Silver Trust (CEF)
Q: Hi team,
I currently have holdings in the above companies and ETFs, and with the exception of MAG I am up between 12-90% on all of these. I am thinking that I should take some profits to reduce my exposure in the gold and silver sector.
Are there any of these that you would recommend getting out of, or would I be better to pare down my holding in each to get back to an acceptable percentage of my portfolio?
Also, if I was to hold some of these longer term, say 1-3years, can you please rank them in order of which you would recommend holding for that length of time.
thanks as always,
Paula

Q: Retired dividend-income investor. Sitting on 6% cash. Looking to add some gold exposure. Do you think there is more upside to gold over the next couple of years? For the most part, I am a buy-and-hold investor, not a short term trader. Is there an ETF that a) pays a dividend > 3% and b) that contains both the miners and bullion? If not, what would be the best route to get sector exposure, leaning to the conservative side? Thanks...Steve

- iShares S&P/TSX Global Gold Index ETF (XGD)
- GoldMoney Inc. (XAU)
- SPDR Gold Shares ETF (GLD)

Q: Looking to add to my gold exposure (currently a small position in GLD). Can you let me know your preferred choice for a:
1. Gold ETF
2. Gold Miner/Producer
3. Gold explorer
4. Gold - high risk/high opportunity
5. Gold...? something alternative here, perhaps like GoldMoney
Thx.

Q: I would like to see your current thoughts on these two right now please.
- Yamana Gold Inc. (YRI)
- iShares S&P/TSX Global Gold Index ETF (XGD)
- BMO Junior Gold Index ETF (ZJG)
- Karora Resources Inc. (KRR)
Q: I have an open ended time frame and $1000 which I am looking to put into the Gold mining sector. I am especially interested in Yamana Gold, but am willing to take on a fair bit of risk on something that might prove especially profitable. Any suggestions? Any risks to look out for in the near future? Thanks.
Q: Hi,
Looking to add some Gold/Silver/Metals exposure to my portfolio which I do not have any exposure at the moment.
Which ETFs (Canadian or US) would you suggest ?
Any advice on venturing into this sector in the current times ?
Thank you,

Q: Hello 5i Team
Comparing gold sector ETF
In previous Q&A, you stated it is more preferable to purchase Gold Bullion ETF in US$ as the gold trades in US$ (June 30, 2020).
1 – Is it better to purchase Canadian dollar denominated gold miner ETF vs US dollar denominated gold miner ETF?
Comparing the Major gold miner ETF, please compare as follows:
2 - iShares S&P/TSX Global Gold Index (TSE:XGD) vs iShares MSCI Global Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:RING);
3 – iShares S&P/TSX Global Gold Index (TSE:XGD) vs Sprott Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:SGDM); and
4 - Sprott Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:SGDM) vs iShares MSCI Global Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:RING).
I searched the question database and there has been no questions for the two Sprott Gold miner ETF (NYSE:SGDM and NYSE:SGDJ) and for iShares MSCI Global Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:RING).
Thank you

Q: Hello Peter, I just noticed that numbers comparing the TSX Composite vs the Venture Composite Indexes are striking. In the past 3 months, the Venture is up 48% compared to the broader index's 9%. And over the past 6 months, the Venture is up 30% compared to the main index's negative 7%. Do you know of an ETF or other way to invest in the Venture? More importantly, would you be inclined to make such an investment (as a smallish portion of a 60 year old's portfolio)? And if you would be more or less inclined to do so NOW, please let us know. Thanks!
Q: I have held the Mackenzie Global Resources for a long time but have certainly questioned it's performance and the MER at 2.48%. Would there be select ETFs that would provide equivalent global coverage?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Q: I am holding this name, but at under 2% of RRSP. I also have a position in XGD, which obviously has not risen as smartly this year. I'm bullish on gold over the next year, but also don't want to be greedy, so I'm asking if I let PRYM run or churn out to XGD or elsewhere in this space? Thanks
Q: conservative investor, retired, what are the best ETFs to play the gold and silver market?
- Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI)
- Agnico Eagle Mines Limited (AEM)
- iShares S&P/TSX Global Gold Index ETF (XGD)
- Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. (KL)
- Blockchain Technologies ETF (HBLK)
Q: Hello Peter,
On my previous question, you felt Alamos was a decent stock and may attract international investors. Given the new data (their earnings), is it better to redirect the monies to Kirkland Lake, Agnico Gold or the ETF , XGD. I thought with higher gold prices, Alamos would have crushed the earnings.. Also, any idea why the block chain etf is surging constantly. Thanks

Thanks
Dave.

Q: What is your top choice for playing the gold sector? This will be my only exposure to precious metals.
What are your top 10 growth names (Canada or US) for a new investment with a minimum 5 year hold? I'm not concerned about sector diversity or weighting because we're well diversified in other, larger parts of our portfolio.
Thanks.

Q: Hi
If someone who already has a position in Gold and wants to add to their position from 2% to 10% AT THIS STAGE of Gold's cycle,
what would you suggest? 50/50 split between Junior Golds and Senior Golds (4% each) or asymmetrical buying of more Junior Golds than Senior producers? (Say 5% and 3 %)
Risk tolerance high.
Can add in any of my portfolios.
Question # 2: To one of my previous questions, you mentioned that Big boys moving the money around is 50% of the reason why the stock market is on a tear. (I am paraphrasing your words!)
When will these big boys take a liking for Gold? And how can one identify the smart money's movement into Gold?
