Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Hi Team,

What do you think about ET, BCE, EIF? I already own a position in EIF and BCE and was thinking to add more or start a position in ET. This would be an acquisition in my non-registeted account and for a 10-15 time frame. I am primarily a dividend investor, but do look for some growth potential.

Thank you for your diligence and the service you provide!

Q: Stock screeners. Could you suggest web sites with a great stock screener tool - free or paid?

Failing that could you list Canadian companies that currently pay a dividend above 2.75 % and have no debt?

Q: I am looking for technology companies that pay a dividend for an income portfolio, Sylogist is on my list to purchase however it is fairly small. Do you view the SYZ dividend as safe and would you buy today? Can you recommend another tech that pays a reasonable dividend (smaller but growing is fine)? Thank you.

Q: I hold the above in my income portfolio. With the exception of psi they are half positions. psi has diminished to well under a half position. I have enough new money to top 4 or 5 up to full positions. Which of the above (if any) would you suggest deserve a full 5% weighting? I am of course willing to move in a new direction if that were your advice. I currently hold 24 positions in this account.

Q: Happy Holidays everyone! I am relatively new to 5iResearch (few months) and must say that my results have been outstanding to say the least (SHOP, WELL, XBC to name a few - AC being the only one down so far). Thank you for that 5i.

I hold ET but am negative, as I am with BPY.UN (by more than 20% on both). I need to increase exposure in Technology, Industrials and both Consumer Cyclical and Defensive and decrease in Real estate. I do like some revenue but it is not essential for the next 3-5 years.

In no special order I am thinking LSPD or SYZ, TFII or WSP, PLC and PBH. What are you suggestions for growth here. Please comment and/or place in order of preference - objective being to recapture lost value in BPY.UN and ET over coming 12 months.

I understand this may represent many questions. Please take necessary credits. Thank you.

Q: Was in a quandary over ET after purchasing as an income stock several years ago. Currently underwater by 30% and was wondering about buying more as my position is small. I know 5i seldom recommends averaging down but in this case would averaging down be an opportunity? Normally I would sell after a dividend cut but these times are not normal. Company has no debt ( I think ) and room to increase dividend. Is management just being ultra-conservative about increasing dividend? Would this be a tax loss seller or a buying opportunity?

Q: I'm going to sell my ET position very soon. I would like to put the proceeds into one of the following three: LSPD, REAL or WELL. How would you order them in terms of risk? How would you order them in terms of most potential?

Best,
Don
