Q: If the market keeps falling for a bit is there anything particularly attractive? Can you try as best as possible to consider the effects of the Evergrande (potential) collapse all the while presuming that economic fallout will be mostly contained? In other words if new construction in China slows and it has some effect on mining and iron ore prices (for example) what is not effected or what kinds of companies and in which sectors will actually benefit? Or am I just overthinking developments that have too many moving parts to really make sense of? Thank-you.

Q: I was just checking out the new iPhone 13 and saw that they use Affirm for buy now, pay later. I do own GSY, is there an advantage to also owning affirm? What do you think about buying it after the latest run-up? If buying, is it overinflated and is it better to wait for it to settle down? Thanks!

Q: Hi, for my TFSA I primarily hold small dividend with steady growth companies, to keep things somewhat stable. STC is the exception. I have room for one more company.
With that in mind could you suggest 3 stocks that may fit in with what i already have, keeping sector diversity in mind. ( I also have ATD.B in another account)
Thanks, really enjoy your platform and service to the small investors.

Q: We have decided to increase positions in ATA, CSU and GSY in a non-registered account, as well as start positions in ATZ, FSV, GDI, WELL, TOI and LSPD in a TSFA. All purchases will be made with the intent to be long-term holds (10+ years).

Please suggest entry points for each of the companies. Thanks!

Q: Thanks to your stellar advice, I now have three stocks over 5%: WSP (up 156% in a non-registered account), GSY (up 105% in a non-registered account) and LSPD (up 325% in a TFSA) . Based on past guidance to 'let winners run', at what point would you suggest I start rebalancing? Call me a very happy 5i client!

Q: Just finished the book '100-baggers'. As a buy and hold guy, the 'coffee can portfolio' approach is relatable. If you guys could purchase 10 Canadian stocks to not touch for the next 5-10 years which stocks would you include? Thanks.

Q: Good Morning,

I would like your opinion on when GSY might be considered an addition to the Balanced portfolio? Is it a matter of sector weighting that would preclude its inclusion? It seems to be a perfect stock for the folio. Growth and a growing dividend.

Sorry for putting the team on the spot!

It’s horrible having made so many prescient selections that subscribers are reduced to questions like this one. Lol

Q: I keep watching GSY increasing and was looking for an entry position and it is currently around $191. I like the company and you can't argue with its performance over the index over the past 10 years. The EV/EBITDA is around 11.3 and Earnings Yield 7% but P/B is over 4 and P/CF is around 26 which is a bit high. Most of the analysts I've seen have it at an upper estimate of around $205 and Fair Value anywhere from $169 to $194. Still a good entry point and would you think that their historical performance would likely continue? Thanks for your input and just to say I find your site very informative and recommend it to others. Cheers.

Q: I'm down about 34% on REAL in a registered account. I initially bought with a 5 year time frame in mind. What catalysts can you think of that might be a positive for the stock price? How likely are these to occur over the next year or two? With my time frame in mind, would you advise selling and moving on?

Q: Hello 5i,
Today (Aug. 25) Ross Healy mentioned that GSY is rapidly approaching both a Fundamental and a Technical inflection point at somewhere around $205.00 +/-.
As a conservative, dividend -oriented investor, GSY is almost at a 5.50% Portfolio Weighting as per P/A. I would like to reduce to around 4.0% but was thinking of holding off until it reaches the 6.0% threshold which would mean holding out for around $225.00+/-. So, my question is: in your considered opinion should I just proceed and re-balance now, or try and hold out for 6.0%?
This is in my TFSA and there are no tax implications nor are there any compelling time-frame issues so waiting is not really an issue other than opportunity cost regarding the re-deployment of the proceeds.
Many thanks for any insight you can provide.
Cheers,
Mike
