Q: I have held SIS for a number of years and although I have enjoyed the dividend, the share price never seems to hold its momentum and drifts back to the low/mid teens where I bought it. I like the dividends but value total return more. I have never owned WELL but have followed it based on your recommendation. Can you rank the two and provide a short explanation as to your preference on the following metrics: 1) Management 2) Balance Sheet 3) Profitability 4) Long Term (5-10 yr) Return Potential and 5) Risk
Q: Your opinion please. Looks like they hit it out of the park for this earnings report. Once the celebration subsides would you consider it worth investing in?
Q: Hello 5i team,
In a recent answer to a question from Tom about conpanies as a possible target to be acquired, you included CXI. I would like to know what characteristics of CXI makes it a potential candidate besides low valuation and cash on the balance sheet? I know the president of CXI has gone through this process before: has he ever mentioned specifically this endgame before for CXI? I would think that selling at this price + premium would be like a failure in the actual venture. And by what type of acquirers? A bank?
Thank you for your collaboration, Eric
Q: I'm down 60% on all three of these and finally taking the tax write off. The good news is that I can use it this year. Would you consider any worth buying back again after 30 days or not ? QST has been showing signs of life recently and perhaps CXI will recover when the world starts to travel again ? What would you do ?
John
Q: Seems there is a trend or investment opportunity to buy shares in small Canadian companies that are then acquired by US companies. What comes to mind are JPMorgan acquiring Solium Capital and Goldman Sachs putting in an offer for all of People. What other such small Canadian companies are liking to "suffer" this acquisition fate?.....Tom
Q: Hello 5i team,
I need to crystallize some losses to neutralize some 2020 capital gains: which would you sell first (in what order)? ACQ, CXI, MX, NFI, XTC? I am reluctant to sell : ACQ right now because of its excellent momentum. ACQ seemed to be turning things around before COVID, and they seem to be doing the right things again right now. Also reluctant to sell MX and NFI because they are slowly grinding higher and having good cyclical upside potential. If I sell CXI, I would feel like selling at the bottom, I would prefer to wait to see its performance when international travel reopens a little bit more (hopefully) in 2021. That leaves XTC, but I need a little more selling than only XTC. May be only a partial sale, but each only account for 1% to 1,5% of my total portfolio.
Thank you for your collaboration, Eric
Q: I hold the following in my balanced equity type portfolio and they all represent less than a half position, either because they have dropped or because they have not kept up with the rest of the portfolio. I have enough new money to top up 4 or 5 of them to their original weightings. Which would you top up at this point and which would you simply let go?
Q: What do you recommend I do with CXI? I'm down about 50% and have held it for several years. I've been patient for many years and I'm now wondering whether I should sell and put the cash into something else at this point. I'm trying to clean up the portfolio for the new year.
Q: On Dec 02 and Dec 04 2019 the stock traded 200K and 350K . Is there anyway to determine who traded these blocks? It is obvious that it's a bought deal as the company generally trades less then 1K a day. Was it insider trading ???
Q: I see CXI has fallen by 5% on 300 traded shares today. I managed to sell some way back to get it to a less interesting level. Not disinterested enough it turns out but I am willing to hold into next year. In value (as a trap or otherwise) WR to earnings (and growth) do you see a productive future for the company? I believe you liked management at one point. I have plenty of growth type stocks.
Q: I have the above losing stocks in my rrsp. Do you see any that I should let go and replace with something else? Sgy and pd are particularly painful to look at! The ok stocks I have in it are bns, engh and pbh. A good few years before I start cashing in. Thank you.
Q: Recent results seemed more of the same - moderate growth with increasing pressure on margins. Did these results tend to confirm your thesis that things are moving too slowly here and the future seems dull?
