Q: Hello,

How much is the market at risk if Russia invades Ukraine. Could we see a significant pullback and would you want to own a certain asset class to protect your portfolio from this geopolitical event.

Q: Really enjoy when you run the stocks screens, especially when you explain the process, and why you pick certain Filters.
I have a subscription to Morningstar, but certain criteria is not available, like forward FCF estimates. I imagine you are using your Bloomberg Terminal to run your screens. Bloomberg is to expensive for me. However i would be willing to spend between 1or 2 thousand a year for a good stock screen that includes U.S. stocks.
What subscription stock screen would you recommend that is user friendly.

Q: Would you recommend to buy some short term put options to help protect a portfolio from anymore downside risk. If so would you do this in names you already own or look for some tech names that might be still overvalued.

Q: As per your team Industrials, tech and materials/energy can be decent sectors in times of inflation.

Can you please recommend USA & Cdn ETF that you would consider holding in each above sector.

I have been doing nothing but am now looking to add 1 new position to my Canadian TFSA, might also just add to existing positions depending on your answer. Q: Hi 5i Team - There has recently been a lot of attention paid to Jeremy Grantham's prediction that the S&P 500 will drop to half its value and that we have been in a super bubble. Apparently he has predicted the collapse of this type of bubble before. Could you please comment on Jeremy's statements and predictions. I'm not sure we have been in any kind of super bubble and the sell-off at least in growth stocks has already been happening for some time. I find these types of statements disturbing since they create even more fear in a market that already has a good dose of it. Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter and Ryan. Given the state of the world these days do you have any sage advice for investors regarding American and Canadian markets. Possible sectors to avoid or concentrate on. I realize this seems like speculation but the probability of a Russian invasion is certainly trending higher each week.

Q: Hi 5i Team,

Jeremy Grantham in an interview on Bloomberg said he is certain of a coming crash in financial markets. Given the fact that he has been right in calling the Japanese bubbles in late 80s, the tech bust in 1999/2000, the housing bubbles in the States in late 2000s, I would like to get 5i's take on his call.

(I understand that he has been a shrew investor for 50 years and a crash caller for just as long. I suppose if you keep calling for a crash long enough, eventually you're going to be right on a few occasions. Just my thoughts).

Q: The market has been weak since the start of the year with the NASDAQ down over 10% from its November high. I don't own any not profitable tech, but I do own Shopify. Seems like the market is fading into the close the last few days and can't sustain a rally. Does this suggest more downside on a waiting pattern until the BOC and FOMC meetings next week. If history serves, it seems like these tightening cycles always overshoot in anticipation of the start and then settles out a bit. I guess the big difference this time is inflation and whether it moderates or forces the Fed to keep tightening. Thoughts?

Q: Hi 5i Team - Having been a growth investor I don't have a very clear idea of what a Value stock is. Could you explain what criteria or metrics make up this type of company. Am quite sure I probably have a few in my portfolios (and maybe didn't quite realize it) but would to like add at least a couple, maybe more. Would you be able to provide the names of a few Value stocks in the mid and large cap range. Also in the small cap area if possible. Any sector. Am assuming minimum 3 year hold for this type of investment. Thanks.

Q: Are ADRs on the on the US stock market taxed differently than US stocks, that is, is there NO 15% withholding tax applied to the dividends. Thanks … Cal

Q: Re the question by Rodney on 14 Jan about Ft. McMurray oil getting to the East Coast Refineries. No Canadian western oil ever gets to the East Coast refineries. There is no pipeline. East Coast refineries use primarily foreign oil such as from Saudi Arabia. ENB does provide oil to the Sault Ste. Marie refinery.
