Q: Hi. I asked this question yesterday but I don't think it went through.

I saw an interview with Prof. Janice Stein and Rudyard Kipling from the Munk School. Ms. Stein seems convinced that there is going to be significant supply shocks and oil at $175/barrel as a result of the war with Iran. If this is true, what stocks/sectors from your model portfolios are the best to hold and the best to stay on the sidelines until this mess is resolved?

Q: Started my daughters TFSA with quality stocks (BN, TD, SLF, CNQ, TOU, ZEM, VIU, VBAL, CP, BEP, GOOG, ATD.B, WPM) and wanted it to be positive first experience with investing. It has done okay but now everyday it declines a little more. I know it can soon go negative. What is the best way to handle this if for long-term savings say 5 years out. I know she will hate to start losing money, and I know the right thing to do is hold. In times of instability does the market eventually stabilize. I guess no one can predict. Thanks for your wisdom.

Q: Well after 50 years in the market, what have i learnt.
Never fall in LOVE with a stock, protect your capital, sell a portion of a stock when you have made your cost back. Thinking that you are up say 50% in a stock, you have not made a PENNY until you SELL. Investors have a thing in there head that is called GREED, i can make more on this stock. I can name all kind of stocks in say 5i that clients would be very happy if they would of taken some profits a couple of months ago. It takes a long time to make up a 50% loss.
Thanks Again

Q: We often hear about the trade deficits the U.S. has with Canada, but is it reasonable to frame the issue purely in terms of population size? How is it possible that Canada, with a population of about 40;million, buys roughly as many U.S. goods as the United States with about 345&;million people buys from Canada? The Chart Attack V.13 chapter on trade between countries was enlightening. Thank you

Q: Dear Peter et al:

I know there was a nice article in either CMS or perhaps ETF&MF Newsletter about what to hold in RRSP/TFSA and Non-Regd accounts. Especially ETFs. US/Foreign and Canadian stocks. Tax advantages of placing them in individual "buckets" like Regd/Non-Regd and TFSA. For the life of me I can't locate it! Didn't save it. (GRRR). Can you point me in the right direction? Please and Thank you.

Q: I have read an opinion that Bitcoin may have run its course and I assume this would apply to other crypto currencies as well. Could you comment on how widespread this feeling is. Do you feel that there is a case to be made for the sector or might it be best just to exit and move on to something else.
Also how many crypto currencies are there - my knowledge in this area is weak.
My only holding in this sector is Galaxy (as far as I know). Does it have other components to its business that might carry it through if the crypto sector continued to falter or even collapse.
Thanks.

Q: Now we have large cap companies taken down 10 to 20% if earnings top but guidance is not good enough for the analyst, i do not think it is the retail investor causing these drops, so what is the major concern of the big boys that they want out of these stocks, i know that they have made money on them but where does the cash go, are they just nervous like the little guy and want out.
Thanks Again
