Q: A hypothetical. If one had enough money to purchase the entirety of one of your portfolios, would you recommend an even percentage of each stock, or should one also look at the relative volatility of the stocks?

Balanced Equity Portfolio (BEPORT)
Q: This list of companies from the Balanced Portfolio were all beaten up a bit last year. Which of these do you now consider buying opportunities? Are any of these on your list to watch & discard if performance doesn't improve? If I were to add some of these to my relatively diverse portfolio, how would you order them in terms of anticipated total returns?
Q: I am transitioning from a growth portfolio to an income producing portfolio. Should I buy the dividend stocks in the model portfolio one at a time or buy small portions of each?

Q: I am balancing out my portfolios and was just wondering if I should be looking at trimming (and adding) in the Balanced Equity Portfolio so that each stock is lets say 3.8 % holding?? I see your CSU (as is mine) is over 6% (I have others) so should I trim and balance or sit and wait. TY for your sage advice and just wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy festive season.
Q: Hello 5i team,
On the one hand, you suggest to have some exposure in all sectors; yet, after the recent changes, the Balanced Equity has 0% in RE, Telcos and Utilities.
Please explain,
Antoine

Q: Wondering when you will do a New years review on the different portfolios, I have alot of cash ready but waiting to see what your top picks will be for 2018 either by sector or portfolio
Q: Hi, I currently hold all companies in your income portfolio (except I sold Cineplex a while back) and would ideally like to go down to holding approximately 30 companies in total from the 50+ I currently hold. Going forward I would like to continue following the income portfolio but would like to add about 10 from your balanced portfolio. Which 10 from the balanced portfolio do you feel would most complement the ones from the income portfolio? In other words what are your favourite 10 from the balanced portfolio. Thanks, Mario.
Q: Can you please offer an opinion on your TOP 5 best ideas on Mid Caps and 5 best ideas on Large Caps for a 3 to 5 year hold.
Thanks Valter
Thanks Valter
Q: Morning 5i,
What is the approximate portfolio Beta for both the Balanced and Growth Portfolio's at the moment, relative to their appropriate benchmarks?
Many thanks!

Q: Hi there,
I currently follow the BE Portfolio with a slight growth tilt. I have about 25 positions on, each starting with a 4% weighting. I have done very well few names such as SIS, SHOP, PBH, TOY etc. At what weighting would you recommend that I trim back positions?
Thanks!

Q: Your monthly balanced equity report states that the BE portfolio targets an annualized 10% return. This will obviously fluctuate and there will be good and bad years, but if you were to benchmark against say the S&P 500 (or any other benchmark if you have a preferred choice), what sort of alpha would you expect? After all, every equity investor strives for better than market returns right, otherwise we would just buy a low cost market ETF and be done with it.
Q: Hello: I wonder if you could tell me the number of shares held for each of the securities in the Balanced Equity Model Portfolio as of today. I would like to set up my own version of the BEP in Yahoo, and without number of shares, I won't be able to monitor anything. I like to compare my portfolio with the BEP so that, for example, if my portfolio takes a sudden dip but the BEP also does, it gives me a little bit of relief. Not exactly "schadenfreude," but I don't worry too much because I feel I'm in good company. Take as many question credits as is appropriate. Thank you
Q: I would like to complete my balanced portfolio. To do so I need to buy AEM, AIF, ATD.B, BYD.UN, CCL.B, CLS,CSU,MX,PKI,SYZ, WCP,WSP
Are there any concerns here or should I just pull the trigger and buy them?
Should I buy in equal weights or match the percentage weights in the portfolio?
Are there any here I should take a pause on and wait?
Thanks for your help!

Q: Which BE stocks would you add to at today's prices, regardless of portfolio weightings? Thanks.
Q: As part of a diversified stock portfolio, I own all all of the stocks in the B E model with approx 2.5% position in each. I want to rebalance my fixed income to stock percentage. Because I have done well following your advice( thankyou, ) I have enough cash to either add 1 % to each stock in the B E model, or would you suggest a higher weighting in some favorite names in the B E model that you like at this time?
Q: hello, can you please suggest any free portfolio management / tracker that shows allocation by sector. i thought tmx money to show it but not seeing it. may be other members can help.thanks
Q: I note your recent decision to reduce exposure to TOY in the BE portfolio. If I do likewise, where should I reallocate the capital, based on today's conditions? I have only half positions in CAE and BYD.UN, should I add to either of those, or something else? I am overweight BNS and T, please do not consider either of these in your answer. Thank you.
