Q: Morning 5i Team,

Can you please put the following in order of share price appreciation of outperforming in the next 3 years.
Also, would you recommend selling any of the above names and if so what would you replace them with.

Thanks
Joe

Q: I have recently redeemed some mutual funds that I have held for 20 to 30 years that will produce a significant capital gain for me in 2022. I have several stocks and an ETF that have been purchased in the past few years that are showing losses in the range of $5k to $15k. This includes TOI, U, SOXX, SQ, NVDA, MFI, MSFT, WSP and AMZN. Would you suggest selling these stocks to provide a capital loss that can be applied against my capital gain in 2022? It is my understanding that I will need to wait 30 days to repurchase shares to avoid the denial of the capital loss. If you would suggest selling these stocks and ETF, should I sell now or wait until the end of 2022? And if the stocks and ETF are sold to create a capital loss before the end of 2022, do you see some future in these investments and if so, which stocks would you suggest that I repurchase after 30 days? Thank you for your insights.

Q: Assuming we are due for a rebound, can you provide your top 5 Canadian and top 5 US growth stocks that you would be buying today for a 3 year hold. Any commentary would be helpful.

Thanks for all your great advice.

Q: Hi Peter, could you list 5 Canadian and 5 US growth stocks with solid fundamentals that you consider the most unjustly oversold and that represent great buying opportunities at these levels?

Thanks for your great service,

David

Q: Hi Peter,

I am not a big fan of ARKK or Cathie Wood. On a year-to-date basis, ARKK has fallen more than 50%. But I am fascinated with Cathie’s all or nothing investment approach. ARKK invests in disruptive technology firms. Her high risk and high reward investment style reminds me of Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell in the movies Top Gun and Top Gun Maverick. You either reach Mach 10 or crash and burn!

My question for your team relates to ARKK’s top ten holdings: ZM, TSLA, ROKU, CRSP, EXAS, TDOC, PATH, NTLA, SQ, and BEAM. Which of these stocks have fallen sufficiently so that a high-risk investor can safely purchase them for a five-to-ten-year hold? Also, what is your ranking of these ten high tech disruptive companies? Living life in the “danger zone” has its attractions.

Thanks,

George

Q: Hello,
I have lost about 55% on qrtea. In your opinion, is there any chance it could recover? Should I sell and invest in something else? if so, any suggestions?

Q: Hi Team,
Today seen some big % moves by many growth/ tech names; which seemed to come out of no where. Overall, what is your sense on where we are in this pullback? Is it time to start buying some beat down tech names? This being said, if you feel a person should be doing some buying at this time; what are your most convincing buys from todays levels? Some of the stocks I was looking at are SHOP (currently not owned), or add to either of this list which I currently own all: ATZ, TOI, U, RBLX, SQ. Currently I feel like we are watching a major buying opportunity unfold before our eyes...similar to oil stocks a couple years ago and feel I might regret not adding some new funds at this point to some high quality tech names that have been sold off some 50-75% in many names. Also, generally speaking; if a person is looking at holdings that are down say 60% (which I am with RBLX,U, APPS)...should we be doubling down? It seems if not it's almost hopeless to break even from these excessively sold off levels. Deduct as many credits as necessary. Thanks
Shane.

Q: In other answers I see that you are recommending tax loss selling. My positions in PYPL and ROKU are down about 50% and they're large enough that the tax loss would definitely benefit me. However, I'm worried about selling them because I feel like if the market improves, they could bounce back to the point where my benefit from the tax loss is nullified by the missed bounce until I can re-buy after 30 days. (For reference, if they bounce back to their early April prices, that would outweigh my benefit from the tax loss).

On the other hand, I think both are attractive at today's prices so if I don't sell for a tax loss I would probably add a bit to both positions.

Do you like PYPL and ROKU at today's prices (to add to current positions) or do you think they're better targets for tax-loss selling and re-buying in 30 days?

Q: Thinking of locking in losses for tax purposes on these two. What would be a good proxy or proxies for the 30 day period?
Thank you.

Q: Good morning Team, I am looking for proxy's for the 3 stocks mentioned with the plan to repurchase in 30 days, unless 5I suggests better options for the listed stocks.

Thanks Dave

Q: Hi 5i
Some themes are very hot for a while and then go stone cold. The fintech stocks have all crashed and burned. Do you think this is a buying opportunity on some of these names for the next 3 years or so? Or are there some that you would not buy at all as recovery is doubtful? How would you rank these ones for new purchases?
Thanks.

Q: Are these stocks still expensive? In what order would you buy them today?
