Q: What is your view at this time of Canadian bond proxy stocks versus Cdn dividend growth stocks, and their valuations relative to interest rates?

If you are of the view that dividend growers are more appropriate at this time, can you provide three growers that you recommend, and 3 bond proxy stocks that you would suggest to stay away from, to better understand the types of stocks that fall into this category. Thanks.

Q: Hi, I am trying to raise some cash and reallocate for buying a new position ( TCL.a).
Most of my holdings have done well ( many same as Balanced and a few from Growth 5i Portfolios) with moderate to sizable gains since inception with the exception of above names ( Negative YTD Only). I like the prospects of some of them with portfolio weights TOY (3.5%), SIS (3.5%)and SJ (2%).
BCE and ENB are fairly old holdings with 3.5% weight each and have not been acting well for a while. Over past few months, I have sold all KWH.un and most of ECI
( reduced to 0.75% weight), due to rising rates and other company specific concerns. DOL (1.25% weight).
Will it be reasonable to eliminate ECI and DOL (small positions) and/or reduce BCE/ENB ( BCE more due to muted growth prospects and ENB due to its high debt and pipeline sector concerns).

Thank you for your valued advice.

Q: I have a question regarding SIS's dividend. Maybe I am mistaken, but most ''growth by acquisitions'' type of companies usually either pay a small dividend or no dividend at all. CSU, ATD or GUD/Paladin come to mind. The logic being that more value is created by investing the money than giving back directly to shareholders. SIS, on the other hand, pays an high dividend that has been growing quite rapidly in the last year. What is your opinion on this? Have you ever asked them why they pay this amount of dividend or have they ever explained it? I understand they usually sound quite confident in the future but still, I am curious.

Thank you!

Q: I bought equal positions of SIS and CCL.B, which are in your balanced portfolio August 2017. Since then SIS is up 24% and CCL.B is up 12%. It seems that there is a lot more growth potential in SIS, so therefore I am considering selling CCL.B and adding proceeds to SIS. Would you agree with this trade? Or would you recommend another stock to add to with my CCL.B proceeds for better growth and momentum?

Q: Hi, Could you give 3 small cap and 3 mid cap recommendations for me to look at on the tsx. I'm looking for good management with a good balance sheet. Something with some risk is ok provided the possibility for good growth is there.
Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i
What is your reaction, in the shoes of a small retail investor, to the timing of a share issue while having full visibility to a results miss?
This is now the second time mgt has damaged share pricing; from which the price has not yet recovered from the prior issue.

I get we need to look long term but it looks like mgt behaviour is less aligned with investors lately.

Hopefully damage repair can happen sooner rather than later.

Thanks for your thoughts
Dave

Q: Hello Peter and Ryan,
I have a 3 percent weight for Stars Group. I was thinking of raising the weight to 5 percent as it seems that this company is on a great growth trajectory and their results seem to suggest they are on track for it. I am starting to think Knight Therapeutics is not going to move much. I am starting to wonder if too much confidence is being put on Mr. Goodman. He has a great reputation but at the moment the shareholder returns do not seem to matter much. I do plan to hang on to it as i have a large weighting and do not want to wake up one day and the stock just surges. but wanted your thoughts. Sorry, I know you have answered questions on Knight on this site. The results today did not seem to do much. Lastly, what are Savaria's estimates. Thank you
