Q: Greetings 5i Team.
We are adjusting our accounts and looking to place 6% of our equity allocation in the Cdn ‘industrials’ category. If you were to choose among the listed securities, which names would you prefer for each of a one, two, three, and four name selection?
Thankyou
Sam

Q: Hi 5i:
For this year’s contribution to the grandkids (4&3) RESP I’m considering adding TOY or SIS. One reason I’m leaning towards TOY is that they are always watching PAW Patrol.
I know you look favorable on both companies. Which company would you go with?
Thank you as always for your advice.

Q: Hello 5i team,

I have 1/2 position in each of the names listed above in a TFSA and have funds to top up two of them to full positions. Objective is growth with long time frame and OK with risk.
Which two would you recommend and why?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Q: Wanting to make an initial investment into equities within my TFSA which has lots of room. Planning to put in about 10k. Planning to buy and hold long term. Would like a recommendation on growth stocks to get started and have a bit of diversification. Also should I buy all at once or buy some names now and others later. Thanks!

Q: I have a trading portfolio of about $53K, about $18K is in cash right now and I'm looking at investing it again this year after selling a bunch of stocks last year. I currently have about $22K in RBC, BNS and BAC, $3.5K in Go Easy and $1.5K in Orca Gold and would like to keep these. I have a further $7K in various oil and gas stocks which I'm underwater over 50% on, I'm thinking of still hanging onto them as I thinking they maybe at there bottom and like to recoup some of those loses.
I want to invest the $18K in growth oriented stocks that pay dividends and keep them long term, as I'm an investor not a trader. Can you give me advise on what areas of the market I should be looking at in 2019 that were very oversold in 2018 and due to rebound, also specific companies in Canada to invest in, I don't mind also looking at the US but with our dollar down so much this year I think I'm better of with Canada.

Q: Can you please comment on the payout ratios and free cash flow of these companies. As they are both growing and acquiring other companies, I thought the payout ratio was low. How would you rate their capital allocation over the last few years (cash flow, debt vs issuing new shares) ? Thank you!

Q: Morning guys:
I own the these 3 I’m down significantly with all three. All three of these have solid management teams and I have confidence to hold and dollar cost average for the long haul. Is it time to add at current prices.
Thanks
Mark.

Q: You recently published a list of companies being subjected to tax loss selling. I would be interested in your opinion of the top 3-4 companies that might be appropriate for a TFSA (some growth and a bit of income) come January 2. Thanks.

Q: Internal Damage?

When companies go through a major drop from their 52 week high (TSGI -60%, SIS -41%, GRUB-51%, NVDA-53%, KXS-35%) What kind of internal damage is created? I'm thinking employee moral, to stock options, to the ability to finance future growth? Other items? It's very tempting to continue to average down (although my dry powder is getting low) but when a company loses 40%-50% of it's value is it the same company anymore? Or is buying something like a Microsoft (down only 11%) a more prudent investment? (i.e. it hasn't breached a point of internal damage)

My holding period is very long, but I'm wondering if the current steep discounts currently are somewhat false illusions...

Q: Hi Peter:
Season greetings to you and your team.
I would like your opinion on the trade(s) I was thinking about.
1) Sell full positions in POW and NFI.
I've had POW for 5 years and it has done nothing during that time except go down about 20%. However, I also think that at $24.00 it has potentially hit a bottom support number. I would be happy collecting the nice dividend it pays.
I also think based on your recent answers to questions that NFI has potential going forward.
2) If I sold POW and NFI, I would add to the positions that I already have of the other companies that are mentioned.
I'm well diversified and this would not interfere with my sector or geographical weightings or the amount of dividends I am receiving.
I think both scenarios have their positive attributes and would appreciate your thoughts. Do the trade or remain the course.
Thank you very much for your valued opinion.
