Q: My tech sector consists mainly of these three stocks which I knew was too heavily weighted - but I did not want to jump off the bandwagon.. Today that weighting is about 17% of my portfolio - going down. What percent weighting would you advise now? And would you advise reducing all three across the board by the same percent or treat each differently? Or maybe dump one?
Q: Do the last several days in the drop of the above stocks represent a buying opportunity or would you wait awhile? With thanks, Bill
Q: Is there a better deal out there for Sandvine or should I sell it now? I was thinking of putting the proceeds into Open Text or Shopify now that it has sold off.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Q: Can you recommend a handful of your preferred US tech names? Also can you suggest anything in your coverage universe in tech that you would be wary of right now? For the latter I am curious about Canadian tech companies that you like but that for one reason or another may be best to avoid in the shorter term. Thanks.
Q: HI 5i,
I unfortunately bought into Shopify and Apple right before the big tech sell off on Friday and today, and as such I am down quite a bit.
I know the financials and growth prospects of both companies are VERY strong and a rebound is likely within the next month, so I am wondering whether this is an opportunity to buy these stocks at a lower price. My sector weighting in tech is currently 12% (I am in my mid twenties with a higher risk tolerance), so I am also wondering whether you think I should instead sell to cut my losses if you see this correction continuing long term.
Thanks,
Grace

Q: I have opened an RESP for my 5month old with 3K in it (2500 plus 500 from govt). I know its small the first year, but I don't want to add a Canadian ETF as they are too oil and gas and financial focused.
I would like to own some good Canadian growth names that will hopefully be worth a lot when she heads off to school in 18 years and would like to keep it small since it is a small account to start. My idea was the following 7: GUD, SHOP, SIS, T, TD, AQN, PBH. I would like your opinion on them. Would you do anything differently?
Once I own all of the Canadian stocks my plan is to add XAW for world diversification.
What do you think of this idea? Which stocks would you add to the account first? I was thinking of starting with either 3 of 1K each or 4 of 750 each. I pay 7 dollars to buy them which isn't too bad.
What order would you add in?
With only 3K per year in the account it would take 3 years to get the stocks and ETF. I could just add another 2500 to the account now so that I can buy more of it now and be instantly diversified. I would not receive the grant on it but would I still receive future grants?

Q: Greetings and happy Friday gentlemen,
If initiating a new position in shopify (I realise im a little late to the game), would a full position be ok, or would it be wiser to start with a half?
Kind regards,
Karim Rahim

Q: Following your balanced portfolio for 4 months and done well. Did buy shop as the only stock out of portfolio. It has done very well and now makes up 9%. Holding for the long term, but wondering if I should continue to ride the wave or sell 2% and buy another tech stock. Hard to sell when it keeps climbing. If so what tech stock. Right now I do not have syz. T as always you guys are the best.
Q: I have noted in a couple of your recent answers where I thought Shop might be recommended you haven't. I know you expect great things for the company but was wondering if you are thinking a pause or drop is likely after the run up. Thank You
Q: Hi team,
Could you comment on Shopify? How volatile will it for the next 12-24 months? How is the risk? thank you!

Q: I own both and I am interested in adding to both. Is this a good time to add or should I wait till September?
Q: Follow up question to SHOP share offering. Can shop sell this into the market at what ever frequency they want over the next year, or does it have to be larger block trades? How is the sale of the shares communicated to shareholders?
Q: Hi, The secondary has been priced @US$91. Following is the stated purpose:
"Shopify expects to use the net proceeds from the Offering to strengthen its balance sheet, providing flexibility to fund its growth strategies. Pending their use, Shopify intends to invest the net proceeds from the Offering in short-term, investment-grade, interest-bearing instruments or hold them as cash."
Any comments ? Thanks
