Q: I can't add to my RIF, I can't put more than $5,500 in my TFSA annually, so my unregistered cash account is holding shares that will mean major capital gains. I have trimmed periodically, but currently ATD.B is up 1,068 %, SQ up 119%, NVDA up 324%, SHOP up 207%, BYD.UN up 118%. I am not complaining. I offer 5i my sincere thanks for your advice over several years that has been so rewarding. I tend to hold overly long , so I am wondering whether I should in future sell when a stock has reached, say 40%, and buy another stock? What to do?

Q: Hi, wondering what you would suggest as best buys this week for short term gains given the decline in many sectors or stocks showing new momentum trends? And any long term holds being offered at a good discount to pick up? Thanks for all your good advice!

Q: Thanks for the quick answer, further, then to trimming. If you suggest a 20% total in the sector, would you suggest 5% in each holding, or some 6 and some 3? Thanks for the detail!

Q: Am I correct in being a bit nervous about the tech sector getting ahead of itself? I own the above stocks in tech. I have trimmed SHOP from about 12% down to 7%, and I own about 6% in the others, (all with good gains). So - still about 25% tech. I've thought of selling all tech and sitting on the sidelines for a few months, or, just making a trim to reflect a balance. How would you suggest I proceed to further? Thanks, as always.

Q: I am wanting to sell partial positions in each of these. They have become dangerously overweight in my portfolio and am looking to take profits in order to reinvest in other companies/sectors -- either in Canada or US. ADRs would also be acceptable. While I see huge growth in the technology sector, I think I would like to move away from it, since my weighting in this sector is also "dangerously overweight" ... at almost 25%.

(It's hard to move away from something that's giving you such good returns!)

1. Which 3 stocks might you suggest for equal/similar torque?

2. What is a good weighting for the above stocks? All of them have reached the 7 percent range, and even to me it sounds a bit risky.

Thanks for your advice.

Q: Tim Cook recenting made a planned stop in Toronto with Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke to look at Shopify's AR product. Should investors of Shopify read into any of this? Apple's largest aquistion of Beats $3 billion in 2014 would look small as the current market cap of Shopify is $12 Billion USD.
Maybe Apple is not looking to acquire Shopify, but it is a really great endorsement of what is to come from Shopify and that they will be a player in AR.

Q: Can you recommend you top five growth stocks for my TFSA. I would like to take full advantage of tax free growth in this account. Rest of my portfolio is well balanced in my other registered and non-registered accounts. Time frame is 5 to 10 years.

Q: Happy New Year to the entire 5i team. Currently I have what I consider to be a well balanced portfolio based primarily on your balanced portfolio. I have $50,000 to invest in my TFSA. I would like to invest in Canadian companies that are relatively safe yet offer solid growth opportunities now and in the future. I have chosen the above companies. Please rank them for me and can you think of others I should add or any I should leave out?
