Q: I am a long term owner of AAPL and have done well by it. I am wondering if a switch into GOOG for its projected growth is a better long term holding in your opinion. How would you compare the two? Perhaps the obvious solution is to sell half of AAPL for a GOOG purchase. My other tech names include MSFT, CSU, SHOP, LMN, NVDA and VRT with tech making up 25% of my overall portfolio. Many thanks.

Q: I have a 4% exposure to the materials sector, and roughly 23% exposure to technology. I have been considering initiating a position in Newmont Corporation, as I feel the precious metals sector will continue to show strength over the next few years, and my portfolio would likely benefit from the standpoint of improved diversification. I currently have a position of 2% in each of Lumine Group and Shopify. I like both of these companies, but my circumstances require me to part with one position in order to start another.

Would you consider a position in NGT to have better prospects than either LMN or SHOP, or would I be better off staying with what I have, and attempting to raise cash over the next several months to initiate a position in NGT?

Q: Hello 5i team!
You often seem bullish on tri. I know it's grown in the past year and I know you're not fans of analyst predictions, but the one year estimate is about $220.50. can you please explain why this would be a good investment today for the next couple years, and/or offer a couple other better growth ideas? Q: Hi I am 40 years old. I currently pay into a pension and am scheduled to retire in 2040. I have mostly been growth focused throughout my entire portfolio and am wondering when I should begin to consider a more balanced style. Ie income vs growth. Just to limit any risks. Thanks for any advice

Looking at updating/rejigging my TFSA account, are you able to rank the above stocks from 1 - 12, looking at a 3 year hold. These are a mix of some I hold and some I want to purchase. Not worried about size, risk and or industry. Thanks.

Q: I learned of something that I had never heard of before when someone adked 5i's opinion of "the magnificiant Seven Companies" and learned they are American companies. Also was impredded with your answers of why they made the list of 7.

This leads me to ask what 5i's opinion of what would you say the Mannificiant Seven Canadian companies been in the last 7 years with the expectation that they will be still in busines 7 years from now?

Q: I'm looking to raise some cash by selling a combination of stocks. In what order would you sell from this particular list?

Q: Correct me if I am mistaken but Shop missed estimates and the stock tanked then they beat estimates last week and the stock soared. Over the past 2 days the stock is up approximately 30%. Does the erratic performance make one doubt their ability to at least achieve estimates, let alone exceed them? I assume it is the company’s executives who project the upcoming numbers! Is executive compensation reasonable? I seem to recall a recent comment that executive compensation was ridiculously high. Any thoughts you have would be appreciated.

Q: Hi Peter…I see both SIS & NFI set 52 week highs today with NFI up 40% year to date. I have owned SIS for a number of years thanks to 5i, so thanks again! I also owned NFI about 10 years ago and sold my shares in stages generating a profit every time, and yes the profits shrank as time passed! I know you’re negative on NFI, but you also recommend buying stocks which set new highs. I’m considering selling my Super Micro and buying either NFI, SIS, MDA or SHOP. Of the 4 I have an existing position in SIS only. I believe I am an “aggressive” investor but Super Micro’s roller coaster ride is testing me. I have owned NVDA since 2017 which I consider to be a core holding. Maybe I don’t need to own 2 chip makers? I’m perplexed, could you give me some guidance?

Q: SHOP reported good results. Can you provide your views after the call with specific emphasis on why SHOP handily beat estimates and what you see over the next 6 months and 1 year periods. Could the results be the catalyst to get the stock back up to its year high over the next 12 months?

After reading disturbing reports about Shopify's business practices, such as not enforcing its own acceptable use policy against its merchants selling nazi-related products, and its COO's board-level involvement with a far right wing media group, do you have any suggestions for ethical growth companies in Canada or the US to replace this name in my portfolio?
