Q: I just wanted to respond to the comment on the spotted lantern fly and potential issues for ADW. Spotted Lantern Fly are easily controlled by many pesticides. Growers should not worry about the sensationalism that many people/media like to invoke with articles trying to create panic in the wine industry. These flies congregate almost exclusively on grape and Ailanthus (tree-of-heaven). They may require an increase in pesticide usage for the next few years in areas they invade. A year or two after they are introduced the populations have declined, the reasons for this are unknown but scientists believe it is the work of a fungus. Penn State Fruit Research Extension Center can provide very interesting research as they work extensively with these insects.

Q: I would just like to make a comment. There is a serious potential for a pestilence to come to the Niagra wine country. It is called the Spotted Lantern Fly and has been destroying vineyards in Pennsylvania and has been sighted in New York State. It may have been a bit of an overreaction but I decided to move on from ADW.A.

Q: Good morning - thank you for reading my question. Can you tell us what the difference is between theses 2 stocks - is one better to own than the other. I see B is going up today
Also when you do 5I updates, is there a date, written somewhere, that we would know, how long ago that they were updated.

Q: Hi 5I,
The above names are all owned in my TFSA. Of these, I am underweight in COV, IWO, PHO, SDX, SYZ AND VB. I've got some cash to put to work with a long term objective. With consideration to the sector weighting, and my under weights, would you recommend I top up on any at this time or maybe introduce a completely different name or names to the portfolio? Thanks!

Q: With the recent volatility, several companies on my watchlist have seen their multiples fall to more reasonable levels compared to the last 2-3 years. In the current climate, I find low debt, strong management and overall quality to be more important than ever.

Considering these criteria, RCH, ADW.A and SJ are starting to stand out. The main issue I have is, growth might not be as high/steady as it was in previous years, so in the end they might not be that much of a bargain; maybe they are just more fairly valued, not "mispriced".

What would be your take on this? Is a 15-16 forward P\E for 8-10 % EPS growth and overall quality a reasonable price to pay? Or is this a case by case basis? What are the main points of reference, aside from industry, competition, company history, etc.?

I understand there are many other factors, but still, am trying to get my head around valuation. Thank you!

Q: Andrew Peller was a recent top pick by Ryan on BNN. Please compare with Corby in terms of risk, income, and growth. I have read past questions on these two, but would like a comparison as of now, for potential capital appreciation and income, in your usual thorough manner. Would you recommend one or perhaps both?
Thanks, Len

Q: Hello Peter,
Is it time to back up the truck on Savaria? I think the market has over done the downside. Any reason why Andrew Peller is down from its peak? The company seems to be doing well. Please comment on both. Thank you.

Q: During this pullback I have been adding what I think are high quality Canadian mid to large caps with decent growth profiles and pretty good balance sheets (CAE, TOY, GIB.a, WCN, KXS, X).

I'm thinking now of adding to my existing small cap positions starting with Park Lawn (PLC-ca) and Andrew Peller (ADW.a-ca). How would you view each company's debt levels and growth profile.

Thanks.

John
