Q: In response to the question about the risks of owning QTRH in your TFSA on the US side trading on the OTC, my understanding was that Securities that trade on OTC markets are not allowed within a TFSA and that you could have to pay penalties and be subject to additional tax reporting requirements if you hold these securities in a TFSA. They may want to double check to make sure that this applies to a stocks that ONLY trade on the OTC as QTRH trades on the OTC as well as on a major exchange so it may be ok to hold in a TFSA?.

Publish if you think this is relevant.
Thanks

Q: Good day!

I have in the past bought an interlisted Canadian stock on a major US exchange within my TFSA. I've done this when I've seen an opportunity but don't have enough cash in my CAD account. I don't want to exchange USD to CAD as I'm trying to grow my USD account.

I've been looking into Quarterhill, but notice that it trades on the OTCQX in the U.S. The only immediately noticeable difference is that the volumes are much lower. I understand that as far as OTC exchanges go, OCTQX has higher standards.

Are there any other risks I should be aware of? Appreciate your insights, as always.

Marc.

Q: What are your thoughts on Q2 results for Quarterhill ? They have a market cap of $230 m , but net cash of $136 m . Have they received their US$109 court award from Apple yet ? They are buying back 10% of their shares , but that still leaves a lot of cash that they seem to be allocating to M & A activity . Would not a dividend increase or a special dividend be appropriate in these circumstances ?

Q: Hi there, can you provide insight regarding Apple and the expiration of the thirty days they had to appeal? Seems as though both parties are being very quiet regarding the matter! I can't find any information or news release as I write this question. What would your experience suggest here, serious negotiations going on behind the scene...to finally settle all current and future patent claims/contracts? Possibly, a real big win for QTRH going forward with Apple?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Thanks!

Q: Hello, what is your opinion of Quaterhill in today's market? I have owned this for sometime in a TFSA and have been in a losing position for a long time just collecting the div. Would you sell this take the loss and move the money into something with a potential better return like ATD.B, NTR or PLC these are also owned in the same account. Or would you wait another quarter or two? The virtual AGM is on April 15th. Thanks

Q: Hello Iam looking for your thoughts on QTRH. I have owned this in my TSFA for sometime now currently at a loss. From todays value I would need a double to break even, I am happy to sit and collect the dividend as this account is long term but do you think this company can get moving again or should I sell and put the proceeds into say ATD.B or PLC or?? Thanks

Q: Quarterhill wins the Apple court case (again) and has been awarded $85.M
Can Apple appeal this judgement? This must be considered a substantial amount of money going into the QTRH coffers. What would you think this should do to the value of the company? It seemed someone knew about the award before qtrh halted the stock yesterday as the stock price jumped and
volume was over eight times the average.

Q: this stock is down almost 15% since the first of December! Other than the discontinuation of the US listing, I have not seen any additional news to justify the fall in price. Nor should it be based on tax loss selling, as at least technically, this should not be in play for this large of a drop.
are you aware of some other info that is not indicated in there news info?
