Q: 5i’s opinion of XST for a 5-yr hold in RESP?
I see its 5yr & 10yr returns are 10% & 12%, its 3 largest holdings (ATD, Loblaws, MRU) total about 60% of the fund, and it has 11 holdings.
I would basically purchase for diversification as opposed to buying the main holdings individually and paying commissions. Thank you.

Q: Hi Group can you please rate in order of your preference for short term trading not to buy and hold . Give me the ones with the most potential to grow. Most of the ones I have identified have been in the tank lately and should be ripe for some sort of recovery. Also if you have any good ideas that fit the criteria please feel free to add/rate the opportunity as you see it.

Q: My wife and I hold a blend of mainly dividend paying blue chip Canadian stocks (examples shown) in a diversified equity/fixed income portfolio. PE ratios on some of our dividend payers seem enticing to add to. As retirees with a reasonably conservative approach, what sectors does 5i feel have the best opportunity for P/E margin expansion over the next several years, assuming no 'abnormal' (whatever that is) market volatility and some moderation of interest rates? Consistent with the margin expansion theme, would 5i suggest we add to our existing dividend payers, or to more growth-oriented names like BN group?

Q: Long time holder of FSV, but out of FSV and ATD which do you think will perform better for a long term hold?

Piggy backing off one of my last questions on building a solid portfolio from scratch through diversification et al(THANK YOU!). Knowing you can’t get personal; looking for some mid to long term hold recommendations (either US or CA) in the following sectors with growth upside in mind as I have significant cash (250K+) sitting in my RRSP doing nothing. I am currently quite top heavy in Tech – and own the above in registered and non-registered accounts.

If you have several recos for a sector, can you please rank in order of preference. Additionally, if there is a sector that can be put to the side with the idea of prioritizing others, I would be keen to know. Also open to add ETF's to represent a sector. Q: 1. There has been a lot of insider selling the last few months, and their Q3 sales have missed expectations. Any concerns about buying ATD now?
2. Short term assets do not cover both short term liabilities or long term liabilities. Any concern about buying ATD now?
3. They have lost low end customer loyalty last quarter. Do they have plans to increase sales? Any concerns about buying ATD now?

Q: ATD announced on Jun 6 that it will sell discounted food via smartphone app for half original price or less.Please comment and its impact on financials.In view of foregoing.is it timely to add given that u last good entry price is $74-75. Txs for u usual great services & views.

Q: Hi team. I'm ok with some risk and am 100% equities with an average 13% return per year over 10 years thanks to your team!!

Now my question. We sold an investment property with the plan to use the money to fund a new investment property which will be built in 3 years...so this is my time frame. The money will be split between a TFSA & a taxable account, with the taxable account having about 75%.

What do you think if these for the TFSA - CSU, BN, SHOP and DOL?

These for the taxable - WSP, ENB, TFII, DSG, BNS, SU, ATD, BEPC, H, and a little more DOL?

Would you reorganize these between the 2 accounts? Alternatively, would you choose something else due to the timeframe?

Thanks as always for your incredible insight on all things investments. My questions revolve around Dividends.

I am new to the world of Dividends and to date I only own one Dividend paying stock (ATD); and would like to add several others as a means to diversify my investment portfolio. Hopefully I am not too late to the game. I am 50 and looking for long term investment.

I have taken a look at your Income Growth portfolio but if I am being honest, I don't know where to start. Knowing you cannot personalize recommendations - hoping you can at least offer solid guidance.

Can you please share you favorite 5-10 (CA or US) and rank starting with the best. Would appreciate dividend stocks which offer diversification across sectors if possible. Any best practices you could offer in this area (TFSA vs RRSP vs LIRA etc.); I would be most grateful for as well. Thank you in advance!

Q: Hi,
In the 5i BE model portfolio ATD is listed as being in the sector "C. Non-Cyc", however in the 5i company profile page ATD is listed as being in the sector "Consumer Discretionary". Which sector is ATD considered a part of?

Also, can you give me some ideas in the consumer staples category (Canada)?
