Q: This question is in regard to how Revenue Canada handles the buying then selling of this mutual fund: TD US Investment Savings Account which has been my vehicle to put US cash. In doing my taxes the proceeds of this fund appeared on my T5008. This proceeds are balanced by purchases, however the Canadian dollar has fallen in value. Technically this is a capital gain. Is it? If so, this type of fund can cost money, and are there alternatives?

Q: GSY seems to be having a few bad days. With so much recent good news ,dividend rising, by 38% and increasing the number of share buybacks to 8%, this falloff seems surprising. Am I missing something here?
Q: this is a comment on questions about CDN companies and US dividends:
At NBDB I transferred Magna shares from CDN RRSP to US RRSP. The shares were journaled from MG to MGA. I get US dividends. No exchange fees. Dividend exactly what it is suppose to be.
Question to 5i: any possible downside of holding US shares instead of CDN shares?

Q: Bought a year ago at $55.00 and now down quite a bit. I own 1000 shs and was thinking of adding another 1000 shs - just > dividend substantially & plenty of contracts. At 2000 SHS would be a very small % of total portfolio.
Q: In regard to comments re double conversion of dividends paid in U S dollars. This happens with RBC direct with the Brookfield companies however is not consistent. Algonguin Power for example is paid in U S dollars without conversion.
Q: Can you tell me if my thinking is correct here. The MER on the 2X leveraged short ETF is 1.52 whereas the MER on the non-leveraged ETF is 1.42. However if I want to go short (or long on the short ETF technically) for 10K CAD, on the leveraged I would buy 5K. Paying the MER on the 5K would be almost half as expensive as paying it on the 10K for the non-leveraged ETF. Is this essentially correct, or am I missing something?

Q: May I get your thoughts on Lassonde Industries. Is the sell-off overdone as a result of competitors in the US and would you hold this consumer defensive in your TFSA? (High ROE/Growing Dividend/ Established brands)
Thank you
Thank you
Q: This company seems to be quite cheap. Please give me your thoughts on TLRD, their growth prospects, and the sustainability of the dividend. Thank you.
Q: In reply to Dawn's question of the 25th about the paying of US-denominated dividends into US accounts, you replied that the dividend was paid directly in US dollars. However, a member a few weeks ago pointed out that some institutions (it would be good to know which ones) double charge for this service. First, the US dividend is converted to Cdn dollars and then re-converted to US dollars.
Q: I must be missing the rationale behind your reply to Robert's request for your TOP 5 dividend plays. ENB, sure...... but the rest?
