Q: Hi Team,
I am currently holding PPL in a cash account for energy exposure and as one of my few dividend plays. I like the company, but I am also looking at buying either of or all 3 of MG, BAM, BEP but I would need to raise cash to do so. Over the long term (10yrs), even though PPL div is much higher, which of the names listed do you believe to have the highest potential total return? Would it be advisable to sell some PPl and diversify into one of the other names listed? If so which would you buy today, or all of them? Thanks again

Q: I have held FIH.U for several years now and although it has snapped back nicely from it’s covid low, it is still well below where it was trading 3 years ago and has for the most part been a disappointment. I’m OK hanging on to it but am also considering tendering to the Dutch auction as a good way to exit. If one were to tender their shares, at what price point between the $12.50 - $15 range do you feel would be the sweet spot where you get the highest price yet still have a high likelihood the shares will end up being purchased by the company?

Thanks

Q: A reply to James regarding BMO. I use BMO Investorline, but don't have a US account. However, in my RRSP account, I bought a US ETF in CAD, but when I sold it, I selected to settle in US dollars and it allowed me to do this. The exchange rate didn't make sense to me and when I called and asked for an explanation it still wasn't convincing. Not the same as what you're dealing with, but I agree that sometimes they don't appear to be very helpful. I've had both good and bad experiences, it almost seems like it depends on who answers the phone. It doesn't make sense that they can't do what you're asking for.

Q: For the above stocks you tend to be positive on, over the next 3 years please rank them in order with the main goal being capital appreciation (regardless of risk, sector or diversification)

Would your ranking change at all if:

1. Covid is still affecting the world as it is today with international travel somewhat restricted and variants posing a potential problem.

2. Covid becomes more and more contained and the world is as “open for business” as it was pre covid.

Q: Is this ETF a safe way to invest in the banking sector in a RRIF account for income and some growth and do you believe the strategy used by this ETF can outperform other ETF such as ZWB or ZEB. Can you suggest a couple of alternatives ETF that are more appropriate for a RRIF or do you feel it is better to just own the individual banks.

Q: I see a question today on the appropriate sector to assign Park Lawn Corp (PLC). The answer today was to place it in the Consumer Discretionary sector as per the TSX. However in the Dec 21/20 5iR report on PLC, it was placed in the Consumer Staples sector.

Up until today I have PLC in the Staples sector, but your response has me rethinking the appropriate sector, wondering if in fact PLC is actually a hybrid.

My tracking program allows for me to assign sectors by percentage. For example I have CSH as a hybrid of REITs and Health. Magna was a hybrid of Discretionary and Industrial. In this case, assigning a sector for PLC is not as simple as PBH being Staples or LNF being Discretionary.

I am leaning towards calling it a hybrid...would you agree?

Thanks for your help...Steve
